Simplisafe for Windows

Can I download SS onto my laptop or is the app confined just to smartphones?

Hi all,

The SimpliSafe app for mobile devices is available for both iOS and Android. You can download the app from your phone's App Store.

But you can also access your account via the web on any desktop browser (on Windows, MacOS, Linux, etc.). You'll be able to access almost all features that are available through the mobile app - including managing your sensors, controlling your system remotely, and viewing your cameras.

@davey_d Why don't just say clearly that one cannot use the microphone function in the camera on a windows machine. Afraid?

@mailus not at all. 2-way audio is not available on the webapp.

This needs to be addressed as users like me like to use the web based app for monitoring.

It's a website for your PC not an installed app/program.

Upper right corner, the little person symbol, "View Account".

I tried to login, but all I get is a blank page. It doesn't even ask me to login. Anyone run into that issue and if so, how did you correct it?

Try clearing your cache in your browser. That is the little spot on your hard drive, where your browser temporarily stores web pages and all the little things needed to make your browser and web site work together.   There may be enough room for smaller low demand websites, but not enough for larger web sites that need a lot of cache. It's supposed to be self-maintaining, but no software is perfect.  I find I have to clear the cache at least once a year. LOL! and I usually have to have someone to remind me to do it after I've had a problem!

How to do it, varies from browser to browser, but there is usually a menu option called settings, or a little icon that looks like a bicycle gear, or three dots in a row. (. . . )

Clicking on them brings up a menu with an option often called "settings".  In most browsers, you'll find an option to 'clear cache'.  For exact instructions try an internet search on "How do I clear the cache in {The name of your browser}?"

I have a system which has to have the app installed on my smartphone, I want to know if it is also available on the desktop/laptop so that I can view my camera from the laptop instead of the phone all the time.

The answer is same as before.

It's a website for your PC not an installed app/program.

Upper right corner, the little person symbol, "View Account".

After you click on the person symbol and click View Account, you log in. Once you log into the website you go to the three bars on the upper left of the screen to see the options. One of the options is cameras.

In other words, when you log in to your account at SS, you can use your menu options there to see all aspects of your system, including your cameras.  You don't install anything on your pc, you just log in to the web-based control panel of your account to view/change your settings etc.

Hi all,

It may also be beneficial to try logging into your account through an Incognito (Chrome) or a Private (Safari and Firefox) window to make sure that there aren't any extensions that are preventing the page from loading. A quick google search should be able to direct you on how to open up a private window to give that a try.

The clearing of the cache did not help, but I was able to get in using Incognito on chrome. Is that how I should always log in or is there something in my chrome settings preventing me from logging in from a regular window?

Hi @jpelletier116,

I'm happy to hear that using an Incognito window in Chrome did the trick for you. Going forward, you do have the option of always logging into SimpliSafe through an Incognito window, however, if you would like the browser to keep you logged in across browsing sessions, that would not be an option.

Most likely, it is an extension (an adblocker?) that you have installed in Chrome that is causing the issue. Incognito mode disables all extensions by default which is why that may have worked. In order to find out which extension is causing the issue, I recommend disabling them one by one until you are able to log in to your SimpliSafe Dashboard properly. Once you are able to log in properly, you'll have found the culprit and may be able to adjust some settings or uninstall it so that you can use SimpliSafe.com again.

I've tried the suggestions and still get a blank page.  However, in the URL space I default to "https://webapp.simplisafe.com/#/dashboard" !  If I remove the "webapp." portion and hit enter I start the vicious circle once again.

Any other guesses?

I tried all the suggestion below for connecting with my PC to web page,  My account page does not  have the little person in upper right, it has manage account on upper left.  When I click here does open a page for account, but does not list or show any device that one can click on.  Does one have to have a paid subscription to get ability to use PC to view camera(s) etc?  thanks

Hi @bud,

If you look at the control panel while logged into your SimpliSafe account, you should see the ability to “watch live”.

Idk about all pcs but I know My windows 11 pc I can link windows with my phone, giving me access to everything on my phone including my apps which in turn gives me access to the SS app on my PC through the app. Which I then allow all the permissions including my microphone and I can view and talk through my cameras just as I would with my phone.

@adazol123 We do offer the SimpliSafe app for mobile iOS and Android devices that you can download from your device's app store, but we do not have a desktop app.

If you want to look at your account using a desktop, you can use your browser of choice and head over to webapp.simplisafe.com. From there you can log into your account and view it.

SImplisafe needs to have some fun with their software. It would be a fairly simple matter to incorporate a text to speech function into the firmware that will allow the user to customize the verbal alerts we get when an entry sensor is triggered.

For example, when I open my front door, the base station will announce "Front door entry sensor". Why not give me the ability to change that to "Welcome home, master of the Universe!", or something equally silly of my choosing? Better yet, allow us the ability to compile a library of phrases that it will select and broadcast randomly when a door or window is opened. Each set of phrases could be assigned to a specific sensor, etc etc.  It doesn't ALL have to be serious business. Let us have some fun with it!!!

Needs to be another way to add a camera other than a moble device or qr code
