Night Mode - When?
It has been a question and a topic of discussion for Simplisafe for many months.
We need a Night Mode mode in addition to the Away and Home Mode. This is a huge competitive problem for Simplisafe not to have. We need to be able to arm our exterior sensors, without arming our motion detectors and have instant alarms set for just the exterior sensors. We cannot do easily with current modes. This is the only alarm system on the market that I can find that does not have this feature.
Simplisafe has said for months that it is working on adding this mode. Is this really being worked on or not? When is expected implementation?

This idea for a third armed mode has been submitted, but is not currently in development.
But I'd like to understand a bit more what you're looking for. The way that Home Mode currently works is that by default, all your Motion Sensors are disarmed, while your Glassbreak and Entry Sensors remain online. You can decide which sensors of any of the three types is active in Home Mode, on a per-sensor basis.
You can also set instant trigger for each sensor, though that's an on-or-off setting regardless of mode.
So it sounds like the current Home Mode might already do what you're asking?

I bought SimpliSafe specifically because I need a night mode - I’m terrified that someone will break in while I’m asleep. This is my first home security system and I thought this was standard. According to the other poster it is, except for SS.
The “arm it every night” doesn’t work for me. I’m neurodivergent and having to remember this every night is unattainable for me.
I just installed it and now I’m very disappointed, and am considering returning the system and going with a competitor.

The other poster is wrong. While this mode does exist on some systems, it's not standard on all of them by any means.

I am not sure why a specific night mode is needed? You can customize how each sensor reacts with each mode, you can set up one for yourself.
You don't have to set them every night to instant trigger. Just pick a mode that you will use for nighttime mode and customize it. For example, our "Home" mode is our nighttime mode, every sensor except the one on my main entrance is set to instant trigger, which is similar to our away mode but doesn't activate the motion detectors (I like to late night snack, what can I say). I also arm it in Home mode when my husband is away (I work from home), hence why the main door is not instantly triggered. But our keypad is hidden. We all have ways to disarm the system remotely (i.e. keyfobs, apps), but in the event we can't disarm with that you have 5 seconds to get to the keypad and disarm it. This is why we chose home mode to be our nightime mode, because the entry timer can be customized to a shorter timespan than away. If you know where it is, you can get there in plenty of time. If you don't, there's no way that you are going to find it in time.

I had night mode with Xfinity and I was disappointed to see it not on the SimpliSafe app. It saves the user from having to manually change individual alarms between Disabled and Alarm AND change the entry mode to zero EVERY NIGHT. The only entry delay that can be set to zero is the home mode. A night mode solves for this.

I would most definitely support a night mode, especially as a user that came from Xfinity Home.
Even if it's only available in the app for now, and not on the keypad, then that's fine.

We do need a night mode. Going into the app every morning and night to activate and deactivate instant trigger is unacceptable. Especially when you have 15 different devices you have to go in and out of. @emily_s@davey_d what is the update on this?

Just adding myself to the list of those wanting a night mode. Manually toggling the instant alarm on and off every day is a poor workaround. I suspect the addition of a night mode would prevent a significant number of false alarms.

I also agree that Night Mode is needed. We need to be able to set sensors in modes that are different when we're home or when some folks are expected to come home, separately from when we're all asleep. This is very disappointing. Our previous system, iSmart, had this third mode available. When SimpliSafe took over iSmart, why did they not offer the same? We're switching to a competitor for this reason.

It is very dissapointing to see that Simplisafe is not paying any attention to this basic safety and security need. I can find no other system on the market, from a large competitor, that does not have this capability for a "night mode".

New customer here and have to say that this is a pretty big drawback for me, like it could be the difference of me choosing SS or another system. We’ll see how it goes over the next month or so.
I will say a simple change that could facilitate this is to allow for sensors to trigger the alarm in off-mode, similar to how the panic button triggers the alarm regardless of the setting. It would be nice to change the glass break sensors to instant trigger in off mode, for example. The added flexibility of adjusting a device to trigger the alarm in all three modes would essentially make a night mode possible with what seems like less work to me.
