Monitoring Plan for Push Notifications

Can we get push notifications when the system is armed and disarmed with out the plan? How do we set that up if available?

Hi @brimcm ,

You are describing "General Activity" type notifications. You'll need either the Fast Protect Monitoring Plan or the Self-Monitoring with Camera Recordings Plan to enable them.

You can toggle the setting on the SimpliSafe app:

  1. Tap the My System tab on the bottom
  2. Select Alerts & Notifications
  3. Select Push Notifications

If your plan supports it, you will see "Warning" and "Activity" type notifications on that page.

You can learn more about what's included for each plan in the What are the service plan options? article on the Help Center.

So unless you pay the "ransom" for monitoring the system is useless! You have to go home to see if anyone broke in or not.

Quite a system you designed there!

I will probably throw this out and find a system that actually will be useful if someone breaks in.

I don't want to have the system monitored, I just want it to notify me when someone either shuts off the alarm or breaks in.

The solution you mentioned above is not valid, you can not change the settings.

I defiantly would not recommend this system. There are far better systems out there if you want monitoring and they provide the equipment. As far as buying a system that actually notifies you that something has happened, even the cheaper systems like blink can do this for less.

@brimcm "Ransom" in my opinion is a bit out of context here. Did you research the monitoring plans before you purchased your system?  This has been the policy/structure for a while now. I do agree SS can make it easier to access the plans, costs and features/capabilities of each.

@brimcm  I’m a customer and I’m really dissatisfied. If my cameras pick up motion, I get a very weak push notification that you can’t even hear. Ridiculous when you paid this kind of money.

My concern is how they can put the self monitoring up by 50%. I was paying £8.99 to self monitor my account, that is to get videos. Today they have taken £12.99 out of my account without any notification. I'm 80 years old, my husband died last year so I live on my own. Telephoned to ask how they can do this and It's a case of take it or leave it situation.

@valandjohnnyvee  Edit: I see you do have recordings after a re-read.

This is the U.S. forum. Presume they have one over there.

$9.99 here, or  around £7.49 there for self monitoring with recordings. Your cost almost prohibits having it.

Hi @valandjohnnyvee

We are sorry to hear of the passing of your husband. We hope the below will help clarify the changes and options you have.

Communication to users for price changes to the Self Monitoring with Camera Recording plan, was sent between the 22-30 May. You should have received it regardless of being opted in Marketing or not, as this is a service email relative to your account.

To ensure we continue to provide the best security and invest in new products and features, we need to adjust our plan pricing. Your current plan price will increase by £4, effective from your next billing cycle after June 30, 2025.

We do have options that support our customers during these adjustments. If you would like to discuss your plan further, please call and speak to our loyalty team.

Thank you
