Letting the dog out.

Is there a way to temporarily bypass the entry sensor on ONE DOOR ONLY when we let the dog into the yard, that does not require disarming the system?

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to provide an update to this question. There is now a setting where you can disable a specific Entry Sensor from triggering an alarm while still keeping your system armed. You can do this in the SimpliSafe mobile app by taking the following steps:

  1. Open up the menu by tapping the three bar icon on the top left of the screen
  2. Select "My System"
  3. Go to "Device Settings" and select your Entry Sensor
  4. Under "Alarm Mode" choose either Home or Away Mode
  5. Select "Disabled"
  6. Make sure to tap "send to base" on the bottom of the screen to save this setting
  7. If you don't want an Entry Sensor to trigger while your system is armed in either Home or Away Mode, you will have to disable it for both alarm modes

Once you do this, opening that specific sensor should not trigger an alarm.

This is not a solution. I got the alarm to have a alarm. If I disable my patio door, so I can let out my dog then I am stopping the purpose of the alarm. If I disable my front door, because I have to open and close it several times to get amazon packages then again it defeats the purpose of the alarm. I should also not have to disable and re-able my alarm every single time I let my dog out or get a package. Expecting this feature is not new or advanced.  I have a 10 year old sensor on my patio door that also uses magnet technology that goes off if a door is open for the purpose of pool safety. It has a bypass button so you can press it and have a couple seconds to go out without the alarm going off. I also have blink cameras and they have a very easy and convenient button you can click that has different snooze options in the app. So maybe simplisafe can consider this and app a 1 minute snooze button so you can open a door and get a package or let in your dog without disarming and rearming the system. I also have to worry about if i then forget to rearm the alarm which again defects the purpose of a alarm.  I have just got my alarm and am seriously considering returning it due to these issues. On top of that the only way to see your video clips is on the timeline. So I have to scroll through a long list of door opened, alarm disarmed, alarm armed, etc. in order to get to my video clip. There should be an area that you can go to and just see your video clips. I shouldn't have to scroll and scroll to find a video. Lastly the billing area doesn't show when you will be billed next. It just says the billing amount. I shouldn't have to call in to get this info.  Please consider these things because it would greatly improve the experience and I am sure just like me people are considering other alarms due to these things. Thank you

Hi @adveniam,

At this time, it is not possible to disarm an individual sensor on your system. For your situation, it may help to adjust some other settings on your system. Shortening the Exit Delay for whichever mode your system is armed in may make it more palatable to disarm the system briefly while letting your dog into the yard as it won't require as much time to re-arm your system.

Well, you could cheat by temporarily putting a magnet near the sensor while and when the door is opened/open. Spoofing the system, if you will.

The Nest alarm door sensors have an illuminated button on the bottom that you can press. Once the door is shut, the system re-enables the door sensor. It's a brilliant solution. Maybe SimpliSafe could add a door sensor with this option?

Any chance Simplisafe finally added this feature? I had the Google system which had a great little button to press to let the dog out without disarming the system or rendering the door unarmed. Google system is now end of life, many of us will/have moved over. Seems like a major feature gap for Simplisafe.

@sarac unfortunately no, that's currently not available as a feature. But it's a good one to post about in our Product Requests section!

I would like to disable the door chime on one of my doors.  It is an active door and I don't want to hear the chime dozens of times per day.  for now, I have not installed the sensor on that door, which defeats having SimpliSafe in the first place.  I hope this feature is in development and gets added soon.
