Unique Notification Sound for Video Doorbell Motion Detection

To make these adjustments, you'll want to follow these steps:

1. Navigate to your phone's System Settings
2. Tap Notifications
3. Tap Settings
4. Scroll down, then tap SimpliSafe (or use the magnifying glass on the top right to search)
5. Tap on a type of notification, e.g. “Doorbell Ring” or “Alarm”
6. Scroll down and tap Sound
7. Select a sound for your alert
8. Tap the ←Back Button to return to the SimpliSafe Notifications screen, and follow steps 5-7 to set sounds for the other types of Notification as desired.

I think your script is old, for how to get to the settings, and still doesn't address the MOTION DETECTION sound.
Doorbell ring works just fine, AS I SAID ABOVE.

MOTION DETECTION doesn't appear to be settable anymore, as there is no category for it, and Miscellaneous is not the one.

@christopherdenney apologies. Yes, there is a separate notification category for the doorbell ring, but there isn't a separate one for camera notifications - it's folded into that "Miscellaneous" category. As far as I know, doorbell motion, or camera motion, did not previously have its own notification setting.

@davey_d When will there be a separate notification category for arguably the most important alert of all - the alarm actually going off? As of right this moment I see the following categories:

DFU (Device Firmware Update for those who don't know)

Doorbell Ring

Miscellaneous

Alarm

Downloads

Arming Reminders

Widgets

The "alarm" one may include the actual alarm going off but it also seems to include secret alerts and entry sensors being triggered.

Now I have a new phone, and the Miscellaneous category is completely gone.
For me the ability to have a motion detection sound that is different that the phone default is one of the highest priorities.
If simplisafe cannot, or will not, provide that, then I guess I will have to go back to ring, or look at one of the other offerings.
The alarm and monitoring stuff would've been nice, but if you can't provide the ONE thing I bought the system for, that you provided when I bought the system, I can't remain a customer.

I have to assume, at this point, that this is discontinued functionality, and that support is not allow to talk about it until whatever manager is trying to "save money" gets his promotion.

I got a response from the support chat finally:
We are really sorry, but this functionality was removed by the Mobile App developers when updates were made, and we can no longer get this functionality back

Guess they decided to give customers who use that functionality the big ole middle finger.

I wouldn't agree with that agent's response. To give some context, the current ability for Android users to set up different tones for different types of alert is a byproduct of how Android's notification system works. So we haven't been making changes in that separate Android settings menu, per se.

That being said, the "Miscellaneous" category has been renamed to "Alarm", but it has always included both main alarm system alerts and Camera notifications. It's at least a little less vague.

If and when custom notification tones are added, we'll update the main thread for that request here.

The doorbell motion makes the same alarm on my phone as someone breaking in. Thats just dumb. Why does my mailman give me the same conserned phone alarm as a burglar? Make a Doorbell Motion Detected sound and a separate Alarm Triggered Sound on Android. They didnt lose functionality, this is their own app, they just didnt put it in. Lazy!
