What is the Difference Between Home Mode and Away Mode?

The SimpliSafe security system has three states—Off, Home, and Away. Home and Away both mean the system is armed, but different sensors are active in each. You can change the sensor settings for each mode at any time via the SimpliSafe app, but the default settings are below.

Device and Sensor Settings

Each type of sensor has its own list of settings, and each sensor's settings can be changed separately. For example, if you would like to change how your entry sensors respond in Off mode and you have two entry sensors, you would need to change this setting for each sensor.

Securing Your SimpliSafe Account

At SimpliSafe, we take protecting your information as seriously as we do protecting your home. To help us keep you protected, we implemented 2-Step Verification. This means that any time a new device tries to log in to your SimpliSafe account, the device needs to be verified via email. This means that even if someone knew your email and SimpliSafe password, they still wouldn't be able to access your account without your permission.
