Alarm System Firmware 2.18 (April 2025)

Here’s what’s coming in 2.18:

You may have noticed that your system updated to firmware 2.18 without manual input. Where applicable, future system updates will occur automatically after you disarm your system and it has been disarmed for at least 10 minutes. Please refer to the Updating the SimpliSafe® System article for additional details.

Since the update, my exterior camera will not show live feed unless there a current recording event in progress. Please correct this. I need to be able to see feed at all times.

Got the ladder out and took down the camera.

All is working now after I took the battery out for 5 minutes and reinstalled.

I disabled the WiFi for the base using the keypad.  Cameras are ok using the same WiFi that I disabled for the base.  When the issue is fixed, the WiFi can be turned on using the app.

We have experienced delayed "Arming" and door lock notifications for the last week. The SS app also takes a long time to update and show the correct status once we leave our home. I assumed it was a wifi issue, but yesterday I put our system in test mode and received all critical alerts immediately. Could our delays and glitches be a result of the update?

We are still experiencing issues with 2.18.

We are still experiencing delayed "Arming" and door lock notifications. When we leave home, the SS app takes a long time to update, sometimes we will get a notification that our system has been set to "Away" and then 10 minutes later we get a notification that our doors have been locked (which should happen at the same time). When I put our system in test mode, we received all critical alerts immediately.

Another glitch we have found is that when we leave the house and the system counts down to "Away," we open the app and it will always restart the timer to 60 seconds.

I called customer service yesterday, and they reset our basestation, which seemed to resolve the issues for a little bit, but we are now back to delayed notifications and random glitches. Any advice? Any fixes coming?

System will not update. Hangs up and says try again later. I've tried several times and it continues to fail to update. What is the solution?

I am experiencing the very same issue.

I have unplugged the base station, rebooted my phone, and tried to re-run the update.  Same result-- "Update failed."

@robinhood, @matthewjfazio, @rpannell0347 Are your Base Station's connected to WiFi? You can check this in the SimpliSafe mobile app by going to My System > Base Station Settings > WiFi Network. A WiFi connection is required in order for the Base Station to update.

But if your Base Stations are connected to WiFi, we recommend resetting the Base Station next. To perform a reset:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the Base Station and use a Phillips Head screwdriver to remove the screw below the plug
  2. Remove the bottom cover and remove one battery from the Base Station
  3. Wait 30 seconds
  4. Reassemble the Base Station by inserting the battery, cover, and the power cord
  5. When powered up after the reset, you will hear the Base Station say, “Welcome to SimpliSafe"

After resetting the Base Station, arm and then disarm your system into Off Mode and try installing the update again. But if the firmware still does not update, please reach out to our Support team for additional, realtime assistance.
