Push Notification Delay

We have experienced delayed "Arming" and door lock notifications for the last week. The SS app also takes a long time to update and show the correct status once we leave our home. I assumed it was a wifi issue, but yesterday I put our system in test mode and received all critical alerts immediately. Could our delays and glitches be a result of the update?

We are still experiencing issues with 2.18.

We are still experiencing delayed "Arming" and door lock notifications. When we leave home, the SS app takes a long time to update, sometimes we will get a notification that our system has been set to "Away" and then 10 minutes later we get a notification that our doors have been locked (which should happen at the same time). When I put our system in test mode, we received all critical alerts immediately.

Another glitch we have found is that when we leave the house and the system counts down to "Away," we open the app and it will always restart the timer to 60 seconds.

I called customer service yesterday, and they reset our basestation, which seemed to resolve the issues for a little bit, but we are now back to delayed notifications and random glitches. Any advice? Any fixes coming?

@jhunterboschert We converted your comment into its own post to troubleshoot further here.

Do you only notice this behavior when your system has been armed and the Smart Lock is locked? And do the timestamps on your timeline show the correct time when the system was armed and the Smart Lock is unlocked?

We would first recommend clearing any app cache by removing the SimpliSafe app from your phone and then redownload it to see if that clears up the issue. But if not, we would want to inspect the location of the Base Station next.

To help with its communication, the Base Station should be placed in a central area of your home. We do not recommend hiding the Base Station away in something like a closet or cabinet, as that can impact its connection to other devices and the mobile app. Similarly, the Base Station should be elevated at least 3 feet off the ground, and be placed on a non-dense surface like glass or wood.

Hello, it appears that while the system preforms correctly both the push notifications and the timeline in the app does not show the correct status (i.e. I will lock both front and back doors, arm the system to "home" and then have to wait for both the in app timeline and push notification to arrive). Notifications are a hit or miss along with the timeline updates, however, it is almost a guarantee that our back door smart lock is going to show the wrong status.

Example: This morning we left the house at 8:22 AM ("Countdown to Away Mode"). At 8:29AM we finally received a notification that "System Armed in Away Mode" and "Front Door Locked." Our system counts down for 60 seconds, not 7 minutes.

It appears to go awry when doors are locking/unlocking, because in the mornings when we wake up we disarm the system from home and get that notification right away (i.e. the doors do not automatically unlock when you disarm from home).

A few final notes, both my wife and I have deleted the apps from our phones and reinstalled. This has not seemed to help and we both receive the same notifications at the same time. Also, we have had SimpliSafe over 5 years and have lived in our current house for over 3 years and have not moved the base station or router. The base station sits on top of a bookshelf in our office about 6 feet off the ground and 4 feet from the top of the ceiling.

Hello, @simplisafe_admin  we have reset the base station, we have replaced batteries in door locks, we have done all of the steps with phone support. We are now receiving a message in the app that "We cannot communicate with your Smart Lock" when trying to use the app to lock or unlock doors. This morning when we left the house our alarm went to "Away," our back door "Locked" and the front door shows as "unlocked" and the app will not let us lock it. Our system is setup to lock all doors when it is put to "Away."

Please let us know a resolution soon. We have been experiencing these issues for weeks now since the upgrade to 2.18. I am seeing reddit threads where the update caused issues with base stations and they had to be replaced.

@jhunterboschert Thank you for this update. We have gone ahead and escalated your case details to our tech team for further investigation. A member of the team will be in touch soon to help troubleshoot your system further and get to the bottom of this, so please keep an ear out for their call.

@simplisafe_admin@jhunterboschert by any chance are you using a Pixel phone? I am experiencing a slow down and even non delivery of push alerts from several apps, including a credit card financial app, over the past few days. Don't know if related but worth consideration.  In my instance, Pixel 8 Verizon.

No, iPhone 15 Pro running the latest iOS version. This is the only application we are having issues with. While I think it is an application problem there is also some glitch within the hardware because our cameras stay on for much longer than 1 minute when the system is disarmed.
