Sensor Low Battery Alert Won't Clear

Hello - we've had a Simplisafe 2 system for awhile now.  We received a low battery sensor error.

We replaced the battery with a new CR-2032 Lithium 3V per article:
https://support.simplisafe.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029801311-How-long-do-the-batteries-last-What-batteries-do-my-All-New-SimpliSafe-sensors-require-

The sensor shows opening/closing of the door correctly, but still shows low battery alert after refreshing the device list and also clearing the error on the keypad.  Still shows low battery.  Reset the sensor connection, still shows low battery alert.

Now the base station (voice) does not alert us to a low battery device error.

So the sensor is working properly, but only the SimpliSafe online screen and app (device list) still shows a low battery alert.

Any additional input?  Thank you.

Hi all,

Jumping in here to give some insight. Since the original poster does mention that the Entry Sensor was already working - i.e. it lit up when activated, and the Base Station was already responding to it - I wouldn't think this was a battery/power issue.

But what I think happened is that the Keypad or app had not yet been updated with the latest info from the system. To refresh:

  • On your Keypad, look out for the [!] on the side of your screen. Press down on that side to open the Notification area. Follow the on-screen instructions to clear any pending warnings.
  • On the SimpliSafe app, head to the Dashboard, and pull down on the screen. When you release, the app will ask your system to send the most recent info.

Solved!
Leaving here in case someone else has this issue.

My smart husband, took out the battery, wiped both sides of the battery with alcohol. That fixed it!

@dmikewarr You should be able to identify which device has a low battery by opening the SimpliSafe app and navigating to the three-bar menu (top left corner) and selecting My System > Device Settings. This will show you all of your SimpliSafe products in one spot and you should see a flag for low battery next to the device in question.

Additionally, you can also see this on the timeline for your system.

I am getting the alarm and it is not telling me which one it is in the app. The system is up to date and the test mode is okay. The system batteries for all sensors are 6 months old. Changed the AA in the keypad. Still alerting without telling me which one it is.

Hi @jimwebster1015,

Do you think it could be the Base Station? If the power was interrupted, you would get a "Power Outage" notification on your timeline, and the Base Station's battery would start getting used. If the Base Station was on battery all day, you'd get a warning that it was running low. But if power was restored, all indicators except the record on your Timeline would disappear.

Hi @lenhardy,

If the low battery warning does not clear from your Keypad after pressing down on the side button to open the notification area, I would try arming or disarming your system to see if that clears the message.

Battery went low. Changed battery but could not clear warning message. Removed sensor from system and reinstalled sensor. Fault now clear.
