Door Chime?

When purchasing my Simplisafe product, I was informed that there was a way to get the base station to chime when the door was opened. My system is set-up in an office and it is important that we are notified when a client walks through the door as our visibility is limited. Any idea how to do this or if it is possible?

Hello Ronstadt_Law,

The Door Chime is enabled for all Entry Sensors by default. You can configure that setting in the System Settings section of the Keypad Menu. Please note that the chime is active only when the system is in OFF mode, not HOME, or AWAY (since triggering a sensor when the system is armed will set off the alarm instead).

If you're not hearing a door chime, then it's possible that the Entry Sensor itself is having issues communicating with the Base Station. Give our Support team a call at 888-910-1458, and we can help troubleshoot!

Hi @Tjomsland,

In order to disable the Entry Sensor Chime feature in the Original SimpliSafe system, you'll need to adjust the system's settings. If your SimpliSafe system has been activated, you can adjust these settings through your online account by going to the ‚ò∞ Menu, selecting System, and then toggling off the Entry Sensor Chime option. After doing that, remember to save changes at the bottom of the screen.

If your SimpliSafe system is not activated, give our Support Team a call at 1-800-548-9508 from 8 AM to Midnight ET, 7 days a week. We'd be happy to talk about what other options you may have.

@simplisafe_admin I have a similar problem.  The base station and doorbell chime.  I have the setting 'Base Station Chime' OFF and saved.  I changed it to high, med, low and they work correctly.  Off does not work.  I still get the 2 chimes at door bell.  How do I turn it off?

Hi @Alwreeve,

The first thing I'd recommend is checking for a firmware update for your system. If the issue persists after running any available updates, it would be best to speak with our support team to further diagnose the issue. Our contact details can be found here

My base station will not chime when pushing the video doorbell. System is in off mode, not home or away. The touch pad say no updates available. I have the new system.

Hi @buddhaman1967,

Since it sounds like you already have the Video Doorbell Pro and the system set up, you probably just need to enable that feature in your account settings. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Open the SimpliSafe app and log in to your account
  2. Navigate to the Cameras tab at the bottom
  3. Tap on the ‚öô Gear icon in the upper-right hand corner
  4. Select your Video Doorbell Pro
  5. Choose the option labeled Base Station Chime
  6. You can now select the volume and then remember to tap Save back on the Camera Settings page

How can i enable/disable the chime on individual entry sensors? For example, can I disable it on a certain door, but keep all others enabled?

@raoanilk unfortunately this is not currently possible. The chime is either on or off for all sensors.

That is, unless an individual sensor is set to "Secret Alert", which means that you'll get Push Notifications instead; or if you disable that sensor entirely.

I find two flaws with this system and this is one of them. I'd like my doors that I use numerous times a day to not chime but the other doors especially my basement door that very seldom gets use to chime all the time.

I also hate the fact that this system does not have Geofencing!!

I found that if you set the system to"off", the system will  chime when the door contact is open. If you set the system to "home" or "away", the alarm will sound d when the door contact is open.

I installed Simplisafe in my convenient store today. The chime works but it is not loud enough to be heard from all corners of store… there are coolers in the store that are loud which makes it not easy to hear it.
this might be good for home but not for gas station.

Hi @aksharoilllc,

We do offer an Extra Siren, which may be helpful for you! The Extra Siren is 10 decibels louder than the Base Station, and you can place them throughout your store if you would like. That way, no matter where you are, you will be able to hear a chime! You can learn more about this product here.

I have an extra siren but it doesn't chime when the doorbell is pressed.  We have a large house and it is impossible to hear the base station in most areas.  It would be helpful to have two or three chimes that i could place around the property.

@rgreensted the Door Chime feature for the Wireless Siren is for when the Entry Sensor is opened.

Unfortunately, that doesn't apply to the doorbell press. If you have the Video Doorbell Pro, the main way to hear the chime is through the actual chime box that the Video Doorbell is wired into.

With multiple doors, it's not always possible to know which door has been opened. I've noticed that other systems announce  "front door open" or back door open." Is it possible for Simplisafe to announce an open door in such a way?

@dru We just recently released the Entry Sensor Alert feature which allows the Base Station to announce an Entry Sensor's name once it has been opened. You can learn more about this feature and how to enable it in this Help Center article.

As a retired LEO if I owned a store I would have a professional alarm system and professional level camera DVR system. In my opinion this system is more for the average homeowner.

Can I use or integrate the wired existing sensors on the doors on simplisafe system?

@nolyn78 SimpliSafe uses its own closed system so we can ensure quality and keep the whole system secure. Due to that, devices from other companies unfortunately cannot integrate with the system.
