Using temperature sensor as heat detector
Anyone with the temperature sensor able to confirm it can go to 135 degrees so it can be used as a heat detector.
Plan is to use in kitchen where we have the dryer and washing machine etc so we can get alerted if fire there before spreads through utility room, kitchen, dining room before smokes detect

The Temperature Sensor for the All-New SimpliSafe system can be set to trigger an environmental alarm when the temperature exceeds the value set by the user. This value can be set between 127° F (~53° C) and 1° F (~ -17° C).
While your dashboard will not always automatically update to the latest temperature reading, be assured that the Temperature Sensor does report the temperature to your Base station every hour.

Also, for smoke and I'd expect fire/temp sensors too, I think there are certifications that apply. I'd check to be sure these are certified by the applicable agencies before using them in a situation requiring legal compliance.

If you are using the temperature sensors as an early warning before a fire breaks out, it is a problem that you only get a report once per hour. So, is it possible to mount multiple temperature sensors near each other and have them each report at a different time, asynchronously, so that you can create a shorter interval overall?

Useless trying to convince Simplisafe to produce such a product. Don't know why they won't. My fire department has recommended not using a smoke detector in areas like the garage where smoke is likely from exhaust gas. I don't know why they don't have a device that triggers when sensing element detects an abnormal temp rise over a short period of time and sends a signal to the base station. This type of sensor is needed yet they won't listen to the suggestion as I have asked multiple times for them to consider. This is the one thing that frustrates me about this company.

heat detector set to 127F seem very low for an attic space, looking online 200F is recommended, please verify I will not get false alarms. thanks

It's been 9 months since submitting a request for such a device. Now, unless the Chinese do all of Simplisafe's device designs, I would guess that it might take a few days to integrate a true thermocouple heat detector into the system using components that they already have available. There are companies already out there who have these things so why does Simplisafe ignore customer requests? In fact, here's a website that already has them: https://www.alarmsystemstore.com/collections/heat-detectors. So come on Simplisafe development group it's way overdue. If you don't know how to do it in house then subcontract an electrical engineer who freelances in this area. I'm sure that there are many out there. That's what I used to do when I was an engineer in charge of development for several major companies. Heck, subcontract it out to a local university. Bet there's an electrical engineering student out there who'd appreciate a little extra cash.

Simplisafe. Please design and sell a heat detector for the fire alarm system. Preferably a Heat detector that is Rate of Rise indicating temperature increase within about 30 seconds. Or a heat detector that can be programmed to alarm at 135°F or 200°F.

I also asked them on the phone years ago. Something as simple as a rate of rise heat detector. For the life of me I cannot understand why SS won’t do this. How about one of your C suite execs addressing for us why this is too difficult for SS

The old ADT alarm system in this house, that I replaced with the more modern SS system when I bought the house, had heat detectors in the attic and garage. Maybe I should ditch SS and go back to ADT. What say you about that SS?
