Alarm certificate fire monitoring

I just installed the new smoke/CO detector, but when I download the monitoring certificate from the control panel, the "Fire" box isn't checked, which is a requirement from my insurance company.

Is this an issue with the new smoke/CO detector device?

Hi @smithj ,

Glad to hear that you're already equipped with our brand new Smoke & CO Detector! After installing the unit, the next step is to test the communication of the unit:

  1. On your Keypad, press Menu, then type in your PIN
  2. Navigate to Test Mode
  3. On your Smoke & CO Detector, press the Test Button on the face of the unit for 3 seconds
  4. On the SimpliSafe app (or the webapp), head over to your Timeline. You should see a new entry for a successful Smoke & CO Detector test
  5. Back on your Keypad, exit Test Mode by pressing the left side of the screen

Once the Test appears on your Timeline, that will let your account know that the Smoke & CO Detector is installed, and the checkbox for Fire should now be checked!

@davey_d Thanks so much for your help!

I tried the steps above but for some reason I don't get an entry for the smoke/CO detector test, even though I hear the audible alarm from the device after holding down the test button for 3 seconds.

Other devices do show up in the timeline on test mode.

I can also confirm that the smoke/CO device shows up in the the Devices tab in the control panel.

Anything else I could be missing here?

Thanks again.

Hi @smithj,

I would try removing the Smoke & CO Detector from your system, adding it back on, and then running Test Mode again.

Thanks Emily, I deleted the device from the system, added it back, entered test mode, triggered the alarm, and exited test mode, but still no entry in the timeline.

@smithj apologies, but when testing the communication of the Combination Smoke & CO Detector, you should do one quick press of the button instead of holding it for three seconds. So, the below steps should be followed:

  1. On your Keypad, press Menu, then type in your PIN
  2. Navigate to Test Mode
  3. On your Smoke & CO Detector, quickly press the Test Button on the face of the unit
  4. On the SimpliSafe app (or the webapp), head over to your Timeline. You should see a new entry for a successful Smoke & CO Detector test
  5. Back on your Keypad, exit Test Mode by pressing the left side of the screen

After that, the test should appear on your Timeline, and the fire box should be checked off in your monitoring certificate.

Taking a look at your account, it appears that you might’ve already worked with our Support team to get your monitoring certificate corrected. If you still need assistance, please let us know!

I have the same issue. But neither the “fire”, nor the “water/freeze” is checked. Is the process the same for the temp sensor(which I have placed next to the thermostat in the hallway)? I need all four boxes checked on my certificate.

Thank you

@SchmittSchmitt if you're asking about how to get your Monitoring Certificate from your account, we have instructions for that on the Help Center here.

But if you're asking how to make sure that the Fire box is checked on your Monitoring Certificate, you can follow the instructions above, or find more detailed instructions here.
