A new "Early Alert: Smoke Detected" alarm but no smoke to be found.

I installed new smoke/carbon monoxide detectors early in the year. All good until this morning I received an Early Alert: Smoke Detected. Your Upstairs Smoke/CO detector has detected a low level of smoke alert, which is something I've never seen before. It almost instantly gave me another No Longer Detecting Smoke alert. That was good.

I have never heard of or seen this "early alert" for a smoke detector. Is this new for the Smoke/CO detectors?

I immediately went upstairs, and there was no smoke, no bathroom steam, nothing that would have seemed to trigger it. The heat had recently come on. 🤷‍♂️

Anyone have experience with this?

Hi @loyed,

The "Early Alert" warning is a feature with our new 2-in-1 Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector. When you receive this alert, the 2-in-1 Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector is warning you that the device detected traces of what could be smoke, but isn't a fire. We mention this feature, and other great features of the new 2-in-1 Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector, on this page of our website!

@emily_s Yes, the page you linked to does mention it, but in any of the support area articles I read, it does not explicity say you will get a notification.  This is a great feature, although in my humble opinion, not very obvious. Still recommend a revision/update in the support center on this. Thanks!

@loyed Not sure but I believe this is a feature talked about by Davey in the thread below that the new sensor can differentiate between non hazardous smoke (?) and hazardous smoke.  While he does not explicity state it will generate a separate alert, logic (at least to me) says it would. SS, response please...and if my guess is correct, the actual documentation on this feature in the support site is poor at best and needs to be improved.

Thanks for that. Reading over that other post that's interesting in the different kinds of smoke. Fire is such a scary thing I think SimpliSafe really needs to document this well so we know what we're dealing with here.

@loyed It's my experience SS sincerely tries to cover all the bases, but at times, may miss the mark a bit. The big difference I see over the years how they are much different than the likes of ADT and will address gaps. Unless I missed something (and if I do I will apologize) they will fill this one.
