Google Assistant voice commands non-functional for some users

Hi,

Our dev team is aware that some users are experiencing an issue with Google Assistant integration with your SimpliSafe systems. When attempting to execute an action via voice command (e.g. arming the system, or checking armed status) or may get an error message from your Assistant saying "Sorry, I couldn't reach SimpliSafe', or "Sorry, it looks like SimpliSafe is unavailable right now".

The issue may be a result of a change in how integrations work on the Google Assistant platform, but our engineers continue to investigate. We will update this thread when more info is available.

Hi all,

This issue should now be RESOLVED. It might help to unlinking and re-link your SimpliSafe system with Google Home to start fresh:

  1. Open the Google Home app

  2. Scroll down to find SimpliSafe among your devices and select it

  3. In Device settings select Unlink SimpliSafe, then confirm with Unlink

  4. In the Home Control page, find and select SimpliSafe

  5. Tap Unlink Account, then Unlink

SimpliSafe should now be removed from your Google Home. Next, re-link it:

  1. Return to the main screen of Google Home

  2. Hit the + button on the top left

  3. Under Add and manage, ap Set up device

  4. Under Set up a device, select Works with Google

  5. Find and select SimpliSafe from the list

  6. Under Link an account to control SimpliSafe on any device, hit Continue

  7. Log in with your SimpliSafe username and password, and follow instructions to log in

  8. Select which Protected Location you’d like to associate with your Google Home

Hi all

Been telling my Google speaker for almost a year now “hey google set Simplisafe to home” and it’s worked great. Last two weeks just no longer works. Tried unlinking and relinking via the home app but no luck. Google speaker keeps saying “I’m not sure which level to set Simplisafe to… try saying set Simplisafe to home or set Simplisafe to away”. Anyone else had this problem?

Apologies. From what I understand, there might have been a change on Google's end, and our engineering team is still looking into it.

This also happened to me back in March.  I noticed this only happens with my Google nest display and not the Google mini speakers.

Funny, it only happens on my google mini speakers. Still no fix..

I have setup SimpliSafe with Google Home and Assistant.  Used to work fine.  I have it setup to arm the system to Home mode at a certain time after dinner, in case we forget to arm it.  I also then have it switch to away mode after we go to bed, in case we forget that (so it changes from Home to Away).   I thought it worked fine, but recently noticed that it doesn't.

I know I cannot disarm the system with Assistant, but am I prevented from switching from Home to Away modes also?  And did this recently change?

@ricksimplisafe thanks for asking. I've merged your question into this thread, because it's a known issue that our engineering team is still investigating. I'll reach out to them and hopefully I can get an update.

We are having the same issue here. We have had the google & simplisafe synced and they worked together fine until a few months ago. Now, even after trying to reset it up, it will just not work. It is annoying as we used to have the system on a routine to set at certain times of the day.

It worked fine until last week. Now, I am unable to use my Google bedtime routine to set the alarm using the Google mini speakers. I get "“I’m not sure which level to set Simplisafe to" repeatedly. The same command works fine in my cellphone using " ok Google" by using my voice. My issue is that it stopped working on Google mini speakers that I use for routine commands.

@ramaavasu have you tried unlinking and re-linking your SimpliSafe system to Google Home? You can do so by taking the following steps:

To, re-link it:

If that does not help, please let me know!
