Automatic Water Shutoff

SimpliSafe should develop an automatic water shutoff valve, similar to MOEN Flo.  These are becoming requirements for condo associations to minimize loss.

@pm11a This was posted in another thread yesterday. Requested many times, great idea but SS has not taken action on it yet.

Two days ago one of water sensors had literally a few drops of water on it from a leaking hose clamp connected to our washing machine.  The normally quiet base (set to no lights and no sounds) sprung to like and announced a water leak had been detected and provided the serial number and sensor name. And then the monitoring center called. Cancelling the notice via the app was easy, deleted the alert in the app, done. Mission accomplished.

But.....

If we were out of the house, say on vacation, and got that notice, at best we could call a neighbor to go over and check the house, shut off the water etc or at worst, not be able to reach anyone and our house would flood.

Unless....

Simplisafe developed (or did a JV) a water main shutoff that would integrate with the SS3.

File this one under your product requests on Simplitracker...not the first time I requested this, or will it be the last!

Why wait years, if ever? A Moen Flo is a bit salty, but so is water damage.

It appears it's an inline device so there's a plumbing expense. Needs wifi and a nearby outlet.

Moen Flo;

Does the Flo Shutoff integrate with any other smart home platforms? Yes, it currently integrates with Alarm.com, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Nice and Ring.

And other smart home devices for integration.😁

Or just their app (supposedly).

The Flo Shutoff provides peace of mind — taking action to detect and stop leaks before you even notice them.

This innovative device constantly monitors the pressure and flow rate of the water moving through your home's pipes, detecting leaks as small as a drop per minute. If a leak is detected, you'll receive an alert through the app, and the Flo Shutoff can automatically shut off your water to prevent a minor leak from causing major damage.

How you use your faucet, shower etc.? Machine learning and flow rate analysis.

See reviews, complaints and do the due diligence.

Simplisafe, you are really falling behind other home monitoring systems. My condo association is mandating automatic water shutoff valves. Since you don't have any, I'm going to have to go with another system. It looks like Yolink has a system now. They also have other home security devices. I'm probably going to change my entire system. Too bad Simplisafe is soooo slow in developing new products. You need to stop resting on your laurels and get busy.

@pm11a  Moen and others make shut off valves that work on BT so if SS water sensor sends an alart you can manually send a signal to shut off. Of course, if your condo requires an automatic shutoff, then yes SS is a non starter.

BTW, I agree with you, a directly connected shutoff value with SS3 would be wonderful.
