glass breakage sensor

one version of the glass breakage sensor uses a CR 123A 3v lithium battery. These batteries can be purchased with either 1500 mah or 1600 mha output. Will the sensor work with the 1600 mah battery? Which battery is best for the glass breakage sensor?

Hi @toddaln !

Yes, the Original SimpliSafe Glassbreak Sensor does use the CR123A. Any battery of the same type should work, the only difference being the capacity. So the 1600mAh would just last a bit longer.

@jkappeler123 To replace the battery in the Glassbreak Sensor, slide the sensor off its mounting bracket to reveal its CR-123A. This will expose the sensor's battery, which you can then replace.

I have two glass break sensors and both are frozen shut. Impossible to open. What a pain.

@landartists46 Are your Glassbreak Sensors mounted to a wall? If they are, try sliding the sensor up while pushing it against the wall. If your sensors aren't mounted, I've found it helpful to press and hold the sensor between both hands. Then, move the hand that is holding the back of the sensor down while moving the hand that is holding the front of sensor up. This should help to reveal its batteries.

that was really helpful - the up-down method - worked first time. Thanks!

my system said that the glass break  sensor was not active. I changed the battery. It still says that the sensor is not active.

@pmeigs If you haven't already, I would recommend removing the Glassbreak Sensor from your account (you can do this in the SimpliSafe mobile app by navigating to My System > Device Settings > select [your Glassbreak Sensor] > Tap "X Remove Device" on the bottom of the screen) and then add the sensor back to your system using our installation guide.

@snoopyone To remove the Glassbreak Sensor's battery cover, you will need to slide it up and off its bracket. We also have a video showing how to do this in our Help Center, here.

I have a glass break sensor in my living room and it keeps going off and back on line. It is only about 1 year old. Also the system keeps calling it a motion sensor even though it is listed as a glass break in the system. Please help.

mY GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOTS HAVE 123 NOT cr123.  wHAT IS THE BEST BRAND TO USE?

@becanng the "CR" in the name just indicates that it's a lithium type battery. I'm pretty sure that 123A sized batteries only come as lithium type, but please make sure that yours are lithium. Those are designed for low-drain devices so they can keep operating for years at a time.

Otherwise, any trusted brand that's commonly available will do!

@scotthobats Unfortunately we do not offer a Glassbreak Sensor that doesn't use a battery. All of our sensors require a battery in order to function.
