Unable to check for updates. Please try again later.

"Unable to check for updates. Please try again later."

With the issue I am encountering (and as noted by Johnny M. - thank you, Johnny) in which Wi-Fi no longer reconnects after disconnection, I wonder if the error message is a new symptom? I have attempted to check for the latest update three times but receive my topic's title message. I do not recall ever encountering this message prior. After I manually checked, I believe it would inform me that no new update was available. "Unable to check for updates" is worrisome.

After entering my wireless network's password, I confirm that my Wi-Fi reconnects and is the primary connection. And I have had no issue with my cellular connection. I am at a loss for what is occurring - unless that is the message everyone receives when no new update is available.

Can someone check by attempting a manual software update and report back on your findings? I would greatly appreciate it. Again, I value any help you can provide.

I get "Your system is up to date".

Thank you for confirming, KRStrick. I thought it was a new and odd message I had never encountered before. I am uncertain as to what is going on. I have made no changes or updates to my router or modem firmware.

I will set aside some time to troubleshoot. It is odd, though; the error only began after the Wi-Fi issue of not reconnecting after router disconnection. As Johnny M. referenced, the Simplisafe update should fix this in the most recent SimpliSafe firmware. But if I cannot connect, I cannot receive it once available.

The first step is to reboot the Base Station to see if that might resolve the problem. Aside from that, I do not know what else could have created this sudden glitch.

The latest update resolved the issue ( System Firmware 2.3). However, I will check to see if the router disconnection problem is still present tomorrow.

This issue is still happening as of today.  Base station won't connect to my wifi 2.4 GHz, and although it will connect to my iPhone in hotspot mode, it gives the Unable to check for updates consistently every time I try.  So I cannot download an update, even when connecting to older routers, and it cannot be fixed.  So my system is effectively a brick now.  Thanks a lot SimpliSafe.

@Jim we've still got a couple of things we can try to get your system functioning properly. We might even want to replace that Base Station entirely. Please contact our Support team through either phone or live chat, and we'll take care of you.

I’m having the exact same problem. Is anybody else having this or were you able to fix it?

I’m not having any other trouble, however because the system definitely connects to the Internet I’ve never had trouble getting updates before. In fact, it did a very quick update and then stopped very quickly, which is not like it recently and now I get the message try again  later.

I am having the same problem. I have talked to support and they said it's giving me the message because I have the latest update installed already, but that doesn't seem right to me. Does this mean I will not get future updates unless I call support and have them push it to my system?

I think there is a server problem on SimpliSafe's end.  I'm seeing the same thing.  My base station is on Version 2.17.0.34    Which I believe is the latest version.

I have no issues with WiFi or any other connectivity issues.

@mikeradio Our devs are currently investigating a bug where checking for updates on the Keypad results in an "Unable to check for updates. Please try again later" error message, even when an update is not available. It seems like that may be what you are experiencing?

Our team is actively investigating this issue, and we will let you know once it has been resolved!

This is resolved for me.  I suspect this was on the SimpliSafe server side.  As I didn't change anything on my end.
