Finding the MAC Address

Very annoying I can't easily find the MAC addresses. I see several devices on my network but not sure what's what and not sure if my network is compromised. I was hoping to give devices "friendly names" like "Living room camera" on my network. It's 2023. Why is this so difficult?

Hi @jmlapointe ,

The MAC Address for every camera is listed in each camera's Camera Settings page in the SimpliSafe app:

  1. Hit the My System tab on the bottom right
  2. Select Camera Settings
  3. Select [your camera]
  4. Scroll down to the very bottom to find the MAC address for that device

The sensors of course all communicate with the Base Station through local wireless and not WiFi, so all that's left is the Base Station itself. Unfortunately, we don't yet have an in-app way to determine the Base Station's MAC address, so the easiest way is through the Keypad:

  1. Press the Menu button
  2. Type in your PIN
  3. Select System Settings
  4. Select Diagnostics
  5. Scroll to WiFi
  6. MAC Address will be listed on this screen

I found the MAC address of my camera and applied a reservation for DHCP address.  However, the DHCP server sees a very long HEX string that includes the MAC address, serial, and other characters as the advertised MAC.  Subsequently, it does not apply the reservation.  I have added this long string to the DHCP reservation and it worked temporarily, but the string continues to change and effectively break the reservation.  Is there logic that can be disabled so that the devices ACTUAL MAC address is what is identified in the network?
