Entry Sensor Doesn't Chime When Opened

@BritishBiker​ Since we need to do some additional troubleshooting, I've gone ahead and converted your original comment into its own post.

When you open/close an Entry Sensor, do the LED lights flash? There should be one flash for open and two for closed. If there isn't a flashing light, I would check to make sure that the batteries in the sensors are seated properly; and if they are I would then replace those batteries.

If the sensors' LED lights do flash, interference may be the issue. Interference can be caused by dense objects getting in the way between your Base Station and sensors - like heavy appliances or thick stone/brick walls. In this case, I would recommend putting your system into Test Mode and testing your Entry Sensors to see if they can communicate to your Base Station.

If your sensors do communicate with your Base Station while in Test Mode, but they still do not chime when opened, we would then want to replace those sensors. Our Support team can help you with that.

I think you may be missing the issue.  If the system is turned off, the entry sensors do work properly and announce when a door is opened, so it appears that the sensors are working properly.  However, when I set the system to "Home", and open a door, the chime no longer rings, nor does the system announce which door has been opened.  I have to say, I'm getting really frustrated with this system.  I do not trust it.  I was in software development/customization for over 20 years, and I've never seen a more unreliable system.  It's like your engineers are just slapping code in the system and let all of us customers act as their beta testers.

Today I set to 'away' mode.  I came back forgetting I had set the alarm.  When I entered, there was no countdown alert like normal so I thought the alarm was off.

Boom 15 seconds later, alarm goes crazy. Things were working fine until about a week ago  but since a system prompted upgrade, things have been screwy 

@SSmith43219​ it sounds like the alarm was triggered, but your Keypad didn't start the countdown chirps like it should. Could it just be that the batteries in that Keypad are getting old? They should be lasting about 8-12 months.

@lance843​ You can disable an Entry Sensor from triggering an alarm in Home and Away Modes; but the default setting for our Entry Sensors is for them to trigger an alarm when the system is armed. 

If the alarm setting for an Entry Sensor is disabled for Home and/or Away Mode, the Base Station will chime when that sensor is opened, and if Entry Sensor Announce is enabled, it should say the sensor's name as well.

If the alarm setting for an Entry Sensor is disabled for Home Mode and/or Away Mode, the Base Station will still chime when that sensor is opened, and it should announce the sensor's name 

Still waiting for that entry sensor naming part though lol.

Entry sensor not chiming for me. I haven't change anything in my settings. My settings say it sensors are set to chime, but they don't

@mscesinger​ Is only one of your Entry Sensors impacted, or does the Base Station not chime when all of your Entry Sensors are opened?

If this is only happening with one Entry Sensor, I would check to see if this sensor is set to Secret Alert. If Secret Alert is enabled, the Base Station will not chime when the sensor is opened. 

But if this is occurring with all of your Entry Sensors, we would want to reset your Base Station by taking the following steps:

1. Unplug the power cord from the Base Station, and use a Phillips Head screwdriver to remove the screw below the plug
2. Remove the bottom cover and remove one battery from the Base Station
3. Wait 60 seconds
4. Reassemble the Base Station by inserting the battery, cover, and the power cord
5. When powered up after the reset, the Base Station will say "Welcome to SimpliSafe"

But if neither of these steps help, that could indicate an issue with the sensor(s) itself. In that case, I would recommend contacting our Support team next as we may need to replace that device.
