Two accounts one app

How can I add another account with a separate login to my one simplisafe app?

We want the ability to view our fathers account/cameras through the app. We have our home obviously on our phones, but I see nowhere the option to add another account that can be toggled back and forth.

I'm sure this is a problem for a lot of adult children who happen to have the same alarm systems as their parents. I mean usually families use the same companies because word of mouth is the greatest advertising.

Hi fcgillman83,

Unfortunately, the SimpliSafe app is only able to support one login at a time. So you'd need to log out of your personal account to log into your father's account.

That is, unless both of your systems are under the same account, so you can toggle between the two systems without having to log out. But that means both you and your father would have access to all systems under that account.

@davey_d - I have the same question as the original poster but mine is our company has a SimpliSafe System and I have one at my home.   As the account manager on our company system and of course for my home...it is quite the pain to have to login and out to go to the other account.  Is the ability to have access to 2 accounts under 1 app a possibility in the future?

Having people share accounts is absolutely ridiculous.   It’s security 101.   This is basic functionality that I assiumed would come with an app that is for a family’s safety.  Everyone should be able to use it.  As the master account holder, I should be able to restrict what people can and can’t do in their apps.   Basic alerts on camera should be able to be seen by multiple people.   This is disappointing, and scary that a security company would advocate sharing of userif’s and passwords.

I'm so damn upset I bought this system. Agreed on security 101. I shouldn't have to share my account with another person. Also if someone is in a meeting and our house is broken into. The app becomes worthless. STOP running TV commercials and get a competent coder on your team, this is basic stuff.

Has anyone answered this?  Is there a way to have 2 users on app for system?

@jml3482 this was our response to the original poster:

This problem would be a great one to fix. I also have a business set up...now wanting to add Simplisafe to my house but don't want to continually log in and log out.

This is BS and should have already been addressed! My wife needs to be on my account and her account on the same app on the same phone.

There's a simple fix, one account should use the app, and the other account should use your web browser.

If you want a third account on your phone, download another web browser and use that for the third account.

Although, I agree it would be nice if the app supported multiple accounts!

@dekere As a husband/wife: we agree!! Clearly more than one person may want to arm/unarm their home and check in. So i have to share an account and every 30 days get locked out and coordinate to get a text code to see MY OWN home security system and have any functionality??? It sounds simple but man is it a pain and it means im usually locked out.  Major downside to this system/company that would make me look elsewhere if i could do it over or if i am ever looking for a new system. If you live alone i guess I’d recommend it. SimpliSafe please work on this!  The technology obviously exists, competitors are doing it.

Additionally, it would be nice to be able to assign employees their own app access without being able to change the master password and settings. This way, employees could arm/disarm the system and lock/unlock the door from the app when they enter the building.

Currently, if an employee signs into the app using the master password, they have full access to settings.

Hoping the SimpliSafe design architects take this thread into consideration.  It would benefit both SimpliSafe to program this need into their app as you could have more accounts because customers have both a house & business or multiple buildings/business/vacation homes/etc.  Please, please, please make this happen!

I've been a simplisafe user for years and just replaced our August lock with 2 new Simplisafe locks only to realize that my child cannot use the app to unlock/lock the door because the only way to give him that access would be turn over my master credentials....

Are you serious right now? A **SECURITY** company that has ignored the most basic digital security and instead makes users share system credentials?!?

That's absolutely ridiculous in this day and age.

I mean, FFS, my August lock could even allow me to add GUEST users, who could use the app, to access the lock during very specific windows of time. This is not hard to develop stuff, it's the MINIMUM VIABLE PRODUCT at this point.

It appears nothing has been done to add secondary account holders to an account.  I'm looking through the forums because I want my employees to be able to use the webapp to view cameras on demand while they are at their desk.

Has there been any hint of a feature update coming in a software release?

@CitizensBiznTax At this time the SimpliSafe app is only capable of supporting single logins, but our dev team is currently working on Multi-User Accounts so users can use their own logins to access your account.

The development for this feature is almost complete, and we're looking to launch it this upcoming spring. Once this feature is ready to roll out we'll provide an update in this thread.

Where is Simplisafe on rolling out this new fix for additional users?

@emily_s any updates on the rollout?

While you are at it, I just found out we can only have 4 pins.  We need 25 pins so each employee can have their own login recorded.  I'm thinking I've obviously overlooked something because I was told before we bought that everyone could have their own.

@simplisafe51a363 we do have an active request for more PINs in our Product Requests section. At this time, the request is not yet in development.

But Multi-User Accounts is already in development. We'll keep you updated there when that feature goes live.

If I have a peoples names and their phone number listed as my second and third contacts on my SimpliSafe account, why are they not able to log on and view the cameras? This is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard of!

I never realized when I bought my SimpliSafe that this would be an issue. It's the most basic of security needs. Please update me when this is fixed. Thanks!

Unbelievable! It's 2024, we're now using AI to reason across data.... but, Simplisafe still only supports one user per account. Great, if you're single with no children.

So, what could go wrong? Let's see.... the house is on fire, but I'm in a customer meeting with my phone ringer turned off. My wife cannot use her phone to access the account. Oh, no problem.

Looking over threads, they 'talk' about adding this basic feature. Something was mentioned 8 months ago with a Spring release date????  Gheez, I'll send you the code if you're having trouble figuring it out.

Hoping to see this feature REALLY SOON. If not, time to find a new security company and plaster this shortcoming across every social media account across the web on the way out. Don't want others to make the same mistake of doing business with a company who cannot not support a foundational feature found in every other product known to mankind.

I agree with everyone above. I have a business and home system and it is ridiculous to have to log out of one and into the other. Plus, whichever one I am logged into, I do not get notifications for the other one. Not an acceptable situation.
