combo smoke/CO detector

how can I go about cleaning my smoke/CO detector, it's only about 3months old and already I had 2 false alarms =

@oleskielectric We recommend vacuuming the detector's sensing chamber once a month to prevent false alarms. If you check out our Preventing False Alarms From the Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector article, we provide the steps to do this.

@oleskielectric I have six of the original SS3 smoke sensors and 1 of the new combo sensor.  After reading the manual at the insistence of my wife, we have not had a false alarm in over five years.  Every other month I get out my can of compressed air (buy the case from Costco) and use it to clean each of the smoke sensors by take it down, spraying the circular opening in the center, putting it back up and pushing the test button. One can of air does all of them for several months, works great. Do the same for the co sensors but don't have to take them down as the openings are on top of the sensor itself.
