Hi Davey,

Regarding this comment:

Fixes a major issue that negatively impacts the whole WiFi network for users with 4+ cameras

Does that mean 4+ outdoor cameras or 4+ cameras in general (indoor, doorbell, outdoor)?

I must say that with this update I no longer have the continuous 3 minute recordings at night and thus the battery life is much improved!

@gregter that would be 4+ Outdoor Cameras. They run on a newer platform than SimpliCam Indoor Cameras and Video Doorbell Pros, so those older units aren't affected.

And yes, that 3-minute recording bug should have been squashed way back in 1.10, but we've seen a small resurgence around the Community lately. Hopefully we've got it for good!

When will the issue with indoor cams be fixed where a “;” is not properly generating the QR code to add a new camera?

@mattfuoco this firmware is for the Outdoor Camera only, and does not affect the SimpliCam Indoor Camera, nor the Video Doorbell Pro.

As for the issue that you mention - it's unfortunately hard coded, and therefore very difficult to get around. The QR code itself is really just plain text, which contains your WiFi login details and other important info. Different lines of the code are separated by semicolons, which is why the symbol breaks the camera's ability to scan.

Is there an action that needs to happen or does the camera update automatically?

@lc_cancro yes, our cameras all update on their own, and we roll out gradually. So if your camera doesn't have it yet, it will soon!

@davey_d    I have a camera that has NOT updated in 4 months and is connected to my 2.4ghz network.  How can it be pushed?

I have a camera that is still showing 1.12.2.384 and has not updated, my other camera has.  How do we push an update?  I recharged battery and unit was near base!

Hi @reggie_wilson_iii,

The Outdoor Camera's firmware updates on its own. All updates are gradually rolled out across devices, so your second camera should receive it soon!

@emily_s  It has NOT updated and still shows 1.12.  How can this be updated!!!!

@reggie_wilson_iii I connected to our engineers about this. They said that if you temporarily move your Outdoor Camera close to your WiFi router and Base Station, and then remove and re-add the camera to your account, it should trigger an update.

That issue needs fixing; it must be possible to push a camera update from keypad or website or phone app.  I, for instance, can frequently not get up on a ladder to take down the camera.

@photobug all cameras update automatically - that is, as long as they have a stable connection to WiFi. That's why we had previously suggested moving your camera closer to the WiFi router.

It might help to troubleshoot that connection so that the camera can perform better, and of course update without needing intervention.

Why do my outdoor cameras need to wake to save battery? With an external power source it’s not to save battery. It’s to save network and storage support!

If they're plugged in there should be a provision in the software to lessen their "power up" state.

Lots of us have noted this; it should come up very quickly if it has external power.
