Don’t buy the CO/Smoke detector

Last night my backup CO detector went off. Called local fire department and they showed a reading of 2500ppm. My simpli safe detector was 4 foot from it. It never went off! Texted support and they told me to “reconnect” and that all is well on their end. Basically blew me off. If I didn’t have a backup me and 3 dogs would’ve died. No offer for a replacement or anything. Couldn’t be more disappointed in them. I’ve referred so many people but will no longer recommend this product.

I have a smoke detector from simplisafe that I have not put up at all because of all the complaints of dust builds up in it and causing it to go off and you have to clean it once a month.

I had a Simplisafe smoke detector malfunction while we were away and in a different time zone.

The cops & fire department woke up our neighbors at 2am to see if they had a key to the house (they did).  The authorities when into our house, and determined there was nothing going on.

@brycen As posted in the other thread you started on this:

@brycen I hope this doesn't bring me bad luck, but have six smoke, 3 CO and one combo smoke/CO sensor and no false alarms since 2018, except for our first and last after they were installed earlier in the year.  Luckily we were home and my wife insisted I read the owners manual, Now I faithfully clean all with a can of compressed air on a bimonthly basis.  As far as the FD, when I mistakenly thought I needed a permit, I was told by the FD that I could provide them a code for my smart lock and they would enter the premises, minus the axe, to inspect the premises.

The code is encrypted and only seen by dispatch when the call is sent out to send the FD on site. Your idea of secondary verification is a good topic to explore, but at this time don't know how it would be structured and operate, while keeping the house from burning to the ground.

Hi @ford1425,

This is certainly concerning, and something that we would want to look into ASAP. I've escalated your case to our Specialist team. A senior agent will call you soon to make sure that you are taken care of.
