Smoke Alarm Protocol
I have a faulty smoke alarm with cameras to verify. When I had a smoke alarm alert, I validated nothing was wrong and this was 2nd time smoke alarm triggered a false alarm. I removed the smoke detector from my system, but the alarm continues. Simplisafe has no way to stop an alarm of this type without physically going to the site. Living 7 hours away, that isn't an option. So, my siren batteries finally died, but the plugged in base station will continue to sound an alarm for the next few weeks until I can get there. Also, Simplisafe says my alarm is still active, but since the app and webiste only show "ALARM", I cannot verify that it is still active. Maybe if someone breaks in, they will hear the base station going off and destroy it before the entry countdown completes. I've had Simplisafe on 2 houses for over a decade, but I don't think it will be on my next one.

So sorry to hear that you've had this trouble. There are two different issues that jump out to me from your post.
First, it sounds like you had a Smoke Detector false alarm. The way that the Smoke Detector works is that it picks up tiny particles in the air; so of course, while it's looking out for actual smoke, it could also trigger from other things like dust, or steam. We do have some tips on the Help Center for preventing false alarms in the future.
But as for the second piece - it is true that Smoke Detector alarms cannot be disabled remotely, and need to be canceled via the Keypad. This is to comply with the UL-985 Standard for Household Fire Warning System Units, and is important for safety. Unfortunately, the only way to stop the alarm is to be on the premises.
Though we can confirm that if your system was armed before the Smoke Alarm was triggered, then yes, the system is still armed now.
