How do I Setup PIN Pad when not using SmartLock?

I'm not ready to install the SmartLock. I have yet to drill into door to create a boltlock. For family members who do not have mobile phones (grandchildren) I'd like to install the associated PIN Pad at the front door to deactivate the alarm. They'll then use a physical key for entry. How do I setup the PIN Pad with no lock?

@captain11​ Well, I messed around and got it to work!
Basically I held the SmartLock next to the Control Box and installed it, just holding it in my hand. The install worked fine. Then the setup for the PIN Pad appeared for configuration and I checked off "Never" for Off, Home, and Away. So basically, the PIN Pad is configured to do no control of the SmartLock, until I mount it and change the configuration. But I can enter my Code at the PIN Pad outside the front door and it does change the Security from Away to Off. Who knew!

@ric​ Wow, great job!  I thought you had to install it to work, and you did, just not on the door.  Very out of the box thinking!  Nicely done.
