New Product Suggestion - Mailbox Sensor
Product suggestion: Mailbox notification sensor. Same as current door/window entry sensors, EXCEPT: 1) Does not trigger alarm, only sends notification that mailbox has been opened. Notice can be enabled/disabled separate from camera notices and 2) Sensor would reset and be ready to send the next notice a) after mail box is closed b) if signal to base is lost. The latter, because metal mailboxes shield the signal, thus the 'closed' signal may not get to the base. However, when mailbox is opened, signal can more easily escape the shielded box and more likely be received. Finally, the ‘tilt’ sensor mail box monitors on the market won’t work for community mailboxes, because the doors are hinged on the side, not the bottom.

@blwinton It has been requested often in the past and a customer actually created an entry sensor with a longer antennae for greater range. I purchased one (very inexpensive) but the performance was very poor. Not so with garage door sensors, which are essentially standard entry sensors on nylon holders sold through Etsy, or in my case, good old door hinges. Sad thing is they work perfectly for Home mode but would really need a firmware update from SS to work properly for away.
Hey SS, hint hint!! (Again)

@captain11 I use geofence and Home Assistant to disarm SS and Alarmo. Of course I have Zigbee sensors on the garage doors anyhow.
Did you expose the wire on the sensor, it is the antenna?

The wire was not stripped and extended to facilitate the necessary frequency to communicate to the base. You may want o give that a try. Will try and find the link and update this post.
