Questions About The Store And Product Availability

I'm looking at https://simplisafe.com/alarm-sensors and I notice that the following items (still, in some cases) aren't available for purchase in the SimpliSafe store anymore:

Smart lock (Black)

Keypad (Black)

SimpliCam

CO Detector

My questions/comments are:

- Are the items above going to be restocked and available for sale through the SimpliSafe website ever again?

- If the answer is "yes" then can you provide an estimate of when? (If I recall correctly the smart lock in black is or has previously been out of stock for VERY long (like, a year or more?) periods of time.

- If the answer is "no" then can you explain why the decision was made not to sell these items any longer?

Looking at the offerings in the store it's hard not to notice that you all don't stock any items in black anymore. (Sorry, except for the key fob.) While this could be random it feels more likely to be the result of intentional decisions? If that's the case, that's disappointing.

I look forward to y'alls response.

@worthing The Smart Lock is still available in both black and white, and the black colorway is on our website. However, the black colorway for the Keypad (and the Base Station) were limited edition. 

 

Regarding the SimpliCam, we've upgraded! Our Smart Alarm Indoor Security Camera offers improved audio and video, a built-in alarm sensor, and live intruder intervention where our agents can see and speak through the camera to help stop crime in real-time.* 

 

We no longer sell the standalone Carbon Monoxide Detector because we now offer the combined Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector, offering more comprehensive protection in one device.

 

*Intruder intervention is available with select monitoring plans.

@worthing Over my morning coffee, I read your post with great interest and thought of why this could be happening. In no particular order, here are my thoughts/guesses: 1. SimpliSafe is clearing out inventory of SS3 components and preparing for the launch of the next gen system (SS4) since the current system was released in 2018 which is a very long time in tech years) 2. Due to increasing manufacturing and distribution costs (can you say "Tariffs"?) a way to reduce costs is less SKU's that pull several levers in both aforementioned areas with white being the vast majority by volume of equipment ordered 3. Temporary shortages of total #s available due to what could be going on with #2 and, temporarily, SS is concentrating on white until it can catch up with producing black units again.

So, that's my 3 guesses on a morning after a 3 day holiday weekend. 

Just wanted to add my thoughts on the likely choice: #2.
