Keypad going off unexpectedly

When alarming for home mode, alarm has began beeping asking for a PIN. I thought it was simply time to change batteries. After that, still same issue. Does my keypad need replaced. Does the tower need upgraded? I’ve never experienced an alarm going off for alarming the house before bedtime.

Hi @philgreen296,

If the Keypad is beeping and asking for a PIN, that can only mean that a sensor has been tripped.

Is your Exit Delay for Home Mode set to a short time, or even zero seconds? Once your system is armed, opening an Entry Sensor will trigger the alarm. So if you intend to exit your home while setting the system to Home Mode, you'll want to open the door first. That Entry Sensor won't be able to trigger an alarm until it's closed again, so you can safely leave.

I hope I'm not duplicating a rely but after hitting F5 on the computer the other message isn't showing. I have my alarm system set to give me a minute to exit. THis isn't what is causing my system to act up. That is the 'AWAY' setting to alarm with the door closed, and then exit.

I'm having a new problem when I want to set the alarm to 'HOME" and simply alarm the house for me to go to bed. Previously I hit that button and that took care of it. The tower would let me know the home was armed. But hitting this button now it automatically starts beeping and asking for a PIN.  ALL my windows/doors are closed and locked to prevent the system thinking something was left open

@philgreen296 thank you for clarifying.

Unfortunately, it's hard for us to know what's triggering the countdown unless a full alarm with a siren is activated. That's when the alarm is recorded in your Timeline in the SimpliSafe app - including which sensor was the trigger.

I strongly suggest giving our Support team a call at 800-548-9508. If you have Monitoring Service, we can place it on a temporary hold, so there would be no risk of accidental dispatch.

Though I do have one more question: Do you know if you have a SimpliSafe Original system? If so, then the beeping might actually be your Wireless Siren, which is its way of letting you know that the battery is low.

But those batteries only last about 8-12 months, so if you've had a SimpliSafe Original, you might have already encountered this behavior several times. The system also wouldn't ask for your PIN, because no alarm would be triggered at that point. This is why I initially discounted that as a possibility.

When setting up all the bits, the keypad kept turning itself off.

Lottsa restarts and backtracking, particularly with the cameras.

Went online to learn more, found many references to the issue.

Tried the     live chat   form of support.

Tech told me system is all good to go.

Used the 800 number to shut off the external monitoring service,  last thing I need is bills from the county for false alarms.

Proly try to return the pile of junk later today, no value at all in a system that you don't trust to simply stay turned on.

My system was ordered on Black Friday and shipped from the returns center in Memphis so, proly got someone elses refund anyway.

Wish the turd in live chat had just replaced the bad keypad...

@meicalnissyen I'm sorry to hear about all this trouble. What symptoms are you experiencing with your Keypad? Are you having trouble getting it to wake up when you walk near it or press a button on it? If you are, I would recommend replacing the batteries in the Keypad to see if that helps.

I just received my Simplisafe home security system today. I set everything up without any issues. So far the only problem I'm experiencing is that my keypad keeps chirping and asking for the PIN every time I set it to home. I've tried to trouble shoot this but unsure of how to proceed from this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@adholmes84 It sounds like you're hearing the Keypad's Exit Delay when arming your system into Home Mode. The Exit Delay is the amount of time you have before your system gets armed.

The duration of the Exit Delay is customizable, so if you do not want to hear it you can set it to 0 seconds. This can be done in the SimpliSafe mobile app by going to My System > Base Station Settings > Home > Exit Delay. From there, tap the minus sign until the Exit Delay is set to 0 seconds.
