Frequent WiFi Disconnects

I am having Wi-Fi disconnects on my daughter’s simplisafe system that installed and purchased for her over  a month ago. I have had simplisafe for years and have recommended the system and installed  for multiple friends and family. I have spoken to simplisafe customer service multiple times. Connected “chime connector” for doorbell( cameras and doorbell work fine), reset base station, replaced base station, reset devices and system, reset modem/router.  Modem/router is 20 feet from base station. No other Wi-Fi issues other than simplisafe. The system works other than the multiple( almost sometimes 10 times an hour) She is ready to rip the system out. I fear our simplisafe relationship and recommendations are coming to an end soon. When she has to ignore the notifications  the system is really worthless  😬

Hi @credilla ,

If it's not a range issue, then it could possibly be interference. And it could also be an issue with how the Base Station is negotiating the WiFi router's security.

Do you know what kind of WiFi setup your daughter has? It might help for better compatibility to set up a secondary or guest WiFi network, locked to 2.4GHz (her internet service provider might be able to help with steps on how to do that).

I would find it odd that that would happen over a wide swath of customers with varying routers and modems. It can’t possibly be everyone else’s equipment. It is purely a simplisafe issue that you guys either can’t or are unwilling to fix. Sad.

Update. I have finally resolved the issue. I did a 30/30/30 factory reset on the router/modem. (The regular factory reset wasn’t enough.)I then separated the 5gb and 2.4 with different passwords again on  the account management website for the modem.  It took a very long time to get simplisafe to connect to the 2.4 band but it finally did.  Then I reconnected the camera and doorbell to 2.4 ( which was never a problem as it connected automatically the first several times) I guess I don’t understand how the cameras only connect to the 2.4 as they should but the base station will connect to 5 when it can’t work. That is what I am assuming was happening. But simplisafe was very difficult to connect to the 2.4 band. It took hours. No other system I have connected has taken this long or had as many problems. The same with the doorbell requiring the installation of the chime connector. I am keeping my fingers crossed this stays connected. Everything else in the home connects smoothly to either band.
