Smart Lock Availability?

I’ve wanted a smart lock for years. Unlike an integrated thermostat (you need to add that to your line immediately!), smart locks are supposedly available, but back ordered. They’ve been back ordered for months, maybe years? When are these going to be available again???

Hi @Mitche,

Yes, unfortunately our Smart Lock is currently out of stock due to a supply chain delay. We apologize for the inconvenience, and our teams are working on getting it back in stock ASAP. Once the Smart Lock is back in stock, we will be sure to update the Community.

That seems to be the party line. We're working on it. How many more months/years will you be working on it? That answer works for a very short time. You’re way beyond it.

I recommend you remove the smart lock from your product page until you resolve the issues. Better would be to resolve the issues and start selling it again.

I know you’re not responsible for the problem, so please don’t take my annoyance personally. I don’t shoot messengers.

@emily_s  Mitche makes a very good point and I too, always take the position to not blame the messenger delivering bad or nonsense news.  Your post falls firmly in the latter category as its really not an answer at all. Again, you do as you are instructed, and this case, acknowledging at least, the question and doing your best.

Now let's move on to the "crack", "elite" marketing team. Just in case the sarcasm is lost on anyone, the marketing team is everything but. For full disclosure, being in sales admin or sales itself for most of my working career, you can see I am very demanding on what I consider often the weak link in many organizations. No answer on a question like this condescending at best, rude at worst. For the length of time the product has not been available warrants a more detailed reply.  I can respect the need for Simplisafe to keep product plans under wraps but this is a bridge too far. You can meet your customer questions in a much more, respectful way.

Examples (dependent on the actual behind the scenes reasons):

  • We have encountered supply chain issues and are working diligently to resolve this as soon as possible, with a target date of xxxx.
  • Committed to innovation and quality improvements to meet the needs of our customers, we have made the decision at this time to discontinue the product and to provide an improved, more capable product in 2025 (or whatever time description you want)

Hopefully you will see in my examples above this is not my first rodeo in this and other areas, but I can tell you for sure if I told customers "sorry, yes, its out of stock and I have nothing else to tell you" it would not go well for me.

So SS Marketing/Product mgt, get off your duffs, make a customer oriented decision and then act on it.

Isn't it August lock compatible anymore?

What's wrong with those locks?

Curious only, and for transparency, personally I don't have and will not have any smart locks.
