Simplisafe Door Bell and other junk stuff
The door bell stopped working around 2 years. I called in customer care after extensive troubleshooting and they were not able to resolve either. They promised to send me a new doorbell and when I received to my surprise it was a refurbished one. It looks like it is good time to switch to a different provider. After paying hefty price for full alarm package and monthly subscriptions it seems like it is not worth it anymore. I knew it in the first couple of months itself but couldn't do much as I was neck deep into it with everything installed everywhere but it is time to switch now. I wouldn't recommend Simplisafe even if it is offered for free.

@nareshgolla your last comment in your post matches mine for Comcast, Sirius Radio, ADT and the Chicago Tribune, but not for SimpliSafe. Customer since April 2012, SS2 and SS3 and dozens of systems recommended, placed and, in many, installed by me. still say SS is the best overall value and most effective solution out there. 52 piece system and all is rock solid and perform as expected. Perfect? Not by a long shot but my worst day with SS is still better than my best day with ADT. And yes, the doorbell pro works fine.
Now with that said, let's move on to the glaring product gaps:
1. No wireless doorbell and chime
2. No garage door sensors (you have the hardware, just update the software)
3. No interconnective to IoT devices, like my 12 light switches and plugs (Spare me the security bs. Have beaten that horse to death with foolproof workarounds. Don't remember, contact me)
4. And, finally, swinging for the fences, multiple frequency system.
SimpliSafe, it's 2025, not 2005.
@nareshgolla Good luck with your search for a new system.

Mines almost as long @captain11 , long winded must be contagious.
It sorta depends on the environment and setup, Wi-Fi, upload, etc.
SS OD cams battery only? I'd never go there. Personally, or any battery cameras, any brand. Live and learn I did. Buy never, I will. (Yoda joke)
Solar, I went there, 5 times, better than just batteries alone, at least I've never removed a battery in two+ years to charge one. Still inadequate for security in my environment & setup. All brick, plaster. Funny how those other brand cheap cams work fine for me though.π€π
Still have 8+ second live views after 2.5 years now I guess.
Detections are a little better, no cigar but better when the cams are online and not having glitches, bad firmware loads, no choice on those, forced. I also have Mesh Wi-Fi. Bad house π . Lol
USB, power cables & receptacles if you have enough receptacles. I don't and SS is not worth spending a couple more thousand dollars on for receptacles & poking holes in my soffit or bricks.
See Captain11's want list, and that's just a small list, from overall users complaints & wants, there many, many more. See forum. Typical of forums though.
Captain 11 has previously stated he uses all USB powered, helps the batteries stay topped off and better cameras response.
Good Mesh Wi-Fi, construction & environment evidently. I've seen 1 or 2 posts, lol, touting 2-3 second live views. Can't verify here. His installs & placements, unknown.
Unfortunately USB is not the only choice for sale.
Or I wouldn't be a user. I'd have run POE vs receptacles & used POE cams. Almost did actually, my mistake for not doing it.
I can't personally verify USB SS, don't have any USB, never will, all solar & two doorbells. Until they fail.
He isn't an employee, rather nice fellow actually, hardcore SS fan. His right. But is invested with his placements. He's the guy they call first if issues do arise or worse.
I can't imagine the product 12 years ago. But, back then it was only sensors probably, shortly after came Simplicam lol, then OD cams & doorbells. Also lol. For me.
I forgot to mention, base station sends RF signals to OD cameras to wake them up, mine might work better but for that "going down in history design flaw", regardless of why.
Mine do not serve much for security, just outdoor fake security. Sensors have worked ok over 2.5 years. But not everyones sensors have, see forum.
I still have my other security system arm SS and disarm SS home, away, off. Self monitoring only, as even $10 is too much for what I get in return. Don't need SS cams, have other cameras that work.
The primary stockholder here is Hellman & Friedman since 2018 I think. I think they call the shots, I would. Private equity firm, but then most security firms out there, except Ring are private equity owned.
They're putting their EU security version, Verisure into an IPO supposedly. Public internet news.
Raise money, lower debt etc. and who knows? Typical, hold, build, sell. I think they bought it from Bain Capital around 2014. I could be wrong there. Ring a bell?
No similar news on this front. Yet...
