Camera installation and updates
Hi there, I have a gen 3 system with two keypads. I'm trying to set up a standard outdoor camera, and when I go to add the camera from the app, I see a prompt to "Update your software to the latest version" directing me to go to the keypad and select "Menu -> System Settings -> Check For Updates". I've tried this from both keypads, and in both cases the keypads say the system is up-to-date. I've tried rebooting both the base station and the keypads and also reconnecting to the network on the base station and keypads, to no avail. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

@bryanparker This may be like the movie "Lost in Translation" but here goes: Regardless of the instructions, it may mean that the software for the camera may needed to be updated....and it can take awhile, but why guess. Suggest you call support and ask them to troubleshoot. If it is indeed a system software update, they can "push" it for you and then you can apply it.

I also have two keypads and they can be finicky, updates should be easy, but can be a PITA.
I suggest you open the app, my account, base station, and if it's at 2.17.0.34 it's up to date. Also if indeed up to date, try to clear the messages by deleting them all..maybe then the nag message will go away.
Or you can also see the firmware version & if it's to date in the keypad by checking diagnostics.
The outdoor cameras are supposed to update without any keypad or prompting, or user intervention.
Outdoor cam could need updating once installed and if it does I think you get a yellow light until it's done, might blink, don't remember.

@bryanparker When you open up the SimpliSafe mobile app and go to the Overview page, do you see a prompt that says Firmware Update Available? If you do, I would try installing the update using your phone.
But if the app does not prompt a firmware update either, please reach out to our Support team so they can help get to the bottom of this in real time.
