All cameras - strong signal poor upload speed

For me, this issue started a few weeks ago - coinciding with a base station firmware update.

Three cameras - Doorbell Pro, Outdoor Camera (on dedicated power), Indoor camera.

Video is unreliable. Sometimes a portion of video uploads, many times no video uploads.

Can stream video without issue.

Cameras have been hard reset and readded MANY times.

Since the issue began I've been told that it was a known issue for the Doorbell camera and would be fixed by the early part of last week and that I would get a notification. No notification was received.  The issue persists with all cameras.

ON the off chance that it was at least partially on my end I have upgraded from .5 GB ISP service to 1GB ISP service. I'm on the third router now, most recent being a WiFi 7 Netgear Nighthawk system (RS700S).

When I STILL experienced the issue, even though I had a strong signal, I purchased an Extender, though the router is in the center of a small house (the RS700 is rated for a much larger 3500SqFt space). The extender is rated for 1.7 GB and made no noticeable difference at all.

My Simplisafe cameras are STILL reporting (in the Simplisafe app) a STRONG signal  (around-49dBm Signal Strength) and a POOR Upload Speed (around 1.26 Mbps) and video is unreliable at best.

Hard resets and new equipment, along with ISP upgrades make no difference. There must be issues with firmware.

Support call tonight confirmed that there is an issue with firmware but could not point me to a specific "issue tracker" to follow.

Thoughts?

I have the same issue. I have 158 mbps of upload speed, but all my cameras say it's a poor connection.

I'm trying to get it resolved too

@Barnyard1978 the speed of the connection is certainly an important factor. But so is reception - the strength of that wireless connection, which can be affected by environmental factors. And don't forget that for best performance of the Outdoor Camera and the Smart Alarm Indoor Camera, you want to be aware of both your camera's connection to the WiFi, and the connection to the Base Station.

We have a guide here on the Help Center that can assist you with some steps.

I moved my base station and all my cameras have good upload except the doorbell. It's 12 feet away and only three exterior wall in between.

I think they need to upgrade their doorbell hardware so it can send a stronger signal.

I just had this problem where my driveway camera had excellent signal but poor upload speed so I just deleted all my alexa devices and 2 other cameras that I really didn't need just had them because I'm an addit for cameras lol, well that fixed my problem. I had way to many devices that was hooked up to 2.4 ghz and now that I took some off now that camera is getting what it needs.

I am facing this exact problem. I am now on my 2nd doorbell pro, the first one was replaced. I have hard reset and re-added my doorbell pro at least 30 times in the past few days. I have tried 3 different routers, 2 wifi extenders, all other devices report a upload speed of 30 Mbps, whereas video doorbell complains about good signal strength and only 0.35 mbps speed. Speed test on the same 2.4G network just beside the doorbell shows an upload speed of 18 mbps and at the same time the doorbell pro shows 0.35 mbps. This seems purely a doorbell pro problem. Can anyone please provide a resolution, other than once again resetting and readding?

Same exact problem... I just changed out my router to a system that greatly exceed the need for the camera, yet it reports poor upload speeds despite having great signal. The doorbell camera and other out door cameras are relatively not that far from the router. It should be able to go more than double the distance and still maintain great signal. I have wood frame construction and other devices don't seem to have any connectivity issues other than my doorbell and outdoor cameras.

Slight correction... my out door camera actually are showing great upload speeds at 6-9.5Mbps. All are also set for 1080p resolution, where as my doorbell camera is currently at 480p due to the "poor upload speed." It is hardwired in, could the power supply have something to do with this?

@Bomwond I've had two doorbells and 5 outdoor cams about 19 months. It's been a trip believe me. Doorbells never ever reported great upload speed.

Whats your upload speed?

Mines about 25 up. Outdoor cams usually reports 18 up with connection check and assuming its accuracy. Just tested one outdoor, -58Dbm, 17.81Mbs upload reported.

Doorbells are a different animal, and have never reported uploads above 10 for me. Sometimes in the past a little over 2Mbs occasionally.I just tested one, -32Dbm, all blue bars, 9.5Mbs upload reported.

24 or 25 up available.

@dlpsr rightnow 54Dbm .7Mbs for the door bell. Earlier for a moment it got 1.6Mbs.

@Bomwond Heavy local use? Your own router?

Brand and model?

I run an old 2019 Orbi Mesh with 2 access points.

Check if router has a quality of service setting adjustment.

https://allaboutcookies.org/how-to-prioritize-devices-on-wifi#why-should-i-prioritize-devices-on-my-wi-fi-network

The usual old SS hardware requirements are or used to be, Wpa2 only security or similar. Wpa3 doesn't work or didn't.

Lowest IEEE 802 protocol possible. 802.11ac wifi 5 or lower, if settable.

Temporarily turn off any VPN or router guard software, firewalls, even anti virus temporarily only to test. Remember so you can revert back if they apply.

After that, I'm out of suggestions for the moment.
