Why did SimpliSafe push out a firmware update at 4:00 AM EDT that caused the base station to start making a loud alert noise

Why did SimpliSafe push out a firmware update at 4:00 AM that caused the
base station to start making a loud alert noise that cause both my wife and I
to awaken? How can this be considered customer friendly?

I had to get out of bed to put my code to mute the alert alarm.

Then to top it off, I had selected to update later, but the update proceeded. Then once completed the base station in a very loud voice state update completed.

@stevefortuna Starting with firmware 2.18, all updates will install automatically after you disarm your system and it has been disarmed for at least 10 minutes. This automatic update is to ensure that you are never without protection.

But that being said, the system waking you up at 4am is certainly not the experience that we want you to have! We've forwarded your case details to our escalated Support team. A senior specialist will be in touch soon to help.

There must be a bug in the firmware that causes it to update even if you do not disarm it for 10 minutes. My experience was the same as the OPs. I chose to update it later, and the system installed it anyway.

The same thing happened to me last night. This is our first week with the SimpliSafe system. I really hope this is not a regular occurrence.

Oh great.  If this happens to me I press the panic button and sit with personal protection until the police come.  Is it announcing anything or just setting off the alarm?
