@christopherrnewell is it SS2 or SS3 system? They are covered under a 3 year warranty. Easiest way to address this is to first replace the battery. CR123. If that doesn't work, remove it from the system and then add it back in. If you need help on that try the new Help Center or call support. Its pretty easy to do. Good luck.
@revbarry45 is your Motion Sensor mounted on a wall, or is it freestanding on a table/shelf?
If it is mounted on a wall, locate its test button. Once found, then apply pressure on the sensor while also sliding it out towards the direction of the test button. Then, its battery cover should slide right off.
If the sensor is freestanding, try holding the sensor between both hands and apply pressure. Then, move the hand that is holding the front of the sensor up while also moving the hand that is holding the back of the sensor down. This should remove its battery cover.
