Entry point announcement

Does this system announce what entry point is being activated?
For example: my neighbor has 3 small children and their ADT system will announce: “back door open” when that sensor is activated.
This seems like an important feature if you are trying to keep track of young kids.
Also, in a larger house, it would be useful to know what door or window sensor is activated.

Just quickly updating this thread to let you all know that Entry Sensor Announce is now available! Just make sure that you have the latest version of both the SimpliSafe app from your phone's app store, and the firmware for your Base Station.

Hi @jjlytle,

Right now no. Our designers opted to keep it simple, so when a door or window is opened, you just hear a simple chime. But this is a very popular request. We'll keep you updated if the feature is added to the system.

Are you supposed to get a cleared or a closed indication when the window or door is closed or do you just get entry door opened and no indication when it’s closed

Hi @rwstaab,

The Entry Sensor does not chime when it is closed like it does when it is opened. However, the light on the Entry Sensor will flash twice when it is closed.

For the love of everything, out of all the wonderful things simplisafe has to offer this is the one and only thing I care about, I just want to hear beep, front door. It does it during test mode so it's in there so let's make this happen.

My friend has had the system and he says his does it. Customer support told me it's supposed to. So they sent me a new base because it wasn't working. Still isn't. I thought it did at initial set but now that I read your post,it was during testing that it would say the name. But then why did customer service Tell me it should? :: Frustrating::

@arguidas I'm afraid you received some incorrect information. When the system is in Test Mode the Base Station will announce the name of the sensor you are testing. However, when you exit test mode the Base Station will only emit a chime when an Entry Sensor has been opened. This is a very popular request, and it has been submitted to our dev team. If this feature is added, we will let you all know.

Yes, I agree with this post--I would love to see this feature added, as well as be able to tell when a door is being held open in the system (when a door/entry sensor pair is not engaged with each other). This seems very basic to have, but right now, the feature is unsupported, so when I'm gone, there is no way to tell if any of my doors are open--I just know the alarm is set to away mode.
