Two-Way Audio Not Working for Wireless Outdoor Security Camera
Updated
The Wireless Outdoor Security Camera has a Two-Way Audio feature that works with a simple tap of the speaker button, unlike the SimpliCam® indoor camera where you hold the button while talking and release it to hear. Holding down the Outdoor Camera speaker button will not allow the two-way audio to work properly.
To test two-way audio, you should stand far away or in another room from the camera and have someone else stand near the camera. This is because the camera will automatically detect and mute any echo it hears, including one caused by the sound looping between the camera and your phone’s speakers.
If your two-way audio is not working, you can use the steps below to troubleshoot this further.
Common Troubleshooting Steps for Two-Way Audio Issues
Check Your Phone’s Volume
Ensure that the volume on your phone is turned up so that audio from the camera passes through to the live stream.
Check Your Phone’s Settings
The SimpliSafe® Mobile App requires access to your phone’s microphone and speakers. If you declined this access when setting up the mobile app, you may need to manually enable these settings within your phone's settings menu. Consult with your phone’s manual to adjust these settings and permissions.
Ensure that Mic & Audio Settings are Enabled
You can also check the SimpliSafe® Mobile App and confirm that the camera settings are configured correctly.
Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your phone or tablet
Choose My System from the bottom navigation bar
Select Camera Settings
Choose your Wireless Outdoor Security Camera
Ensure that Mic & Audio is toggled to ON
Check the Outdoor Camera for Dust, Debris, or Water/Snow
Your Outdoor Camera is subject to the elements and occasionally may see dust or water build up on it. Remove the camera from the magnetic mount and gently shake it to remove any dust or water buildup.
