New Patent Filings!

I try to skim the Simplisafe FCC and USPTO filings every so often but it'd been a while (several months, at least) until today. While I am cautiously optimistic I still REALLY hope that the FCC filing for "SimpliSafe Echo Smoke & CO Alarm Listener" is a device that will listen for T3/T4 tones from non SimpliSafe CO and Smoke detectors and trigger alarms accordingly. This has been something y'all have needed for a while.

I also couldn't help but notice the details in the "Operating wireless devices and image data systems" filing:

"The camera can be activated by a signal received by the low power communications module, and the camera can establish a direct communications link with, and send video image data to, a remote server. Where the camera/server direct communications link is inoperable, a link to a local controller is established, and at least a portion of the video image data sent to the controller, which can send a portion of the video image data via an alternate network."

This seems to be, in part, a system that allows for cameras to transmit video to multiple locations (including local destinations that aren't y'alls servers) to reduce the chance of the loss of recordings?  It also seems to imply there may be some sort of new hub or even a new base station o handle this?

At this point I'm sure I'm reading way too much into the text ... but if I am not and there are plans for some sort of hub or new base station that stores video data PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE SURE THERE'S A WIRED ETHERNET OPTION ON THOSE DEVICES.  Wireless is amazing and we all love it but it's never going to be as reliable on average, over time, as a good old fashioned cable.
