Better Services Elsewhere?

Simplisafe services and products are unreliable and entirely overpriced. Their customer service is subpar, hard to reach and unhelpful with resolving issues. The camera systems don’t actually pick up any motion, after changing the doorbell settings around the camera either detect nothing but cars driving by as motion (with setting on people only) or no motion at all with packages and mail being delivered with no notifications at all. My $20 blink camera did a better job but unfortunately higher costs do not mean higher quality.

To sum it up I don’t know why anyone would use this company as both their services and products are terrible. With the high price points and monthly cost for service I fully regret not returning the entire system when I had the chance.

@Lsimon35161 I read posts like yours, and others like it, and wonder what went wrong to make your experience with SimpliSafe so bad.  Yes, I am a happy loyal customer of almost 15 years and know dozens of others, personally, who are also happy with their choice of SS providing for their security. That said, there is portion of customers with the exact opposite experience that one would hope SimpliSafe will do a review on how it got that way.

One last recommendation: what you decide on for your security needs, don't recommend ADT, based on my experience.

Live long and prosper.

@captain11   I'll give it a shot.  You must be one of the lucky ones.  Just from SS reviews by customers there seem to be more who are not happy with the product and customer service than those who are.  You know where I stand.   I currently have two systems with monitoring.  That will be changing soon as I am building up my own system which will actually work.  Not going with a national company e.g Ring. I'm also still waiting for an answer concerning a post about VPNs and outdoor cameras.  I posted on Jan 21, 2026.  Not a response in sight.  For starters SS could 1) Listen to customers instead of blowing them off.  2)  Use only US based customer support instead of going on the cheap.  3)  Don't force automatic firmware.  Not a good idea.   I could go on, but you get my drift.

@cornholio I get them all but the last one, automatic firmware updates.  I am familiar with both sides in general (Windows for instance) but I side with auto updates are good. Curious, why are you against that? And you are 100% right, if you post a question you should get a reply.

@cornholio Had to login on these posts just for old times sake.

Mostly bad times... but old times none the less.

I'd comment further, almost did, deleted it, it just brings back old stress and bad memories, and reminds me of other mistakes I've made in life.

I'm still around, circling, occasionally observing, laughing, and shaking my head. Waiting... 🤔😏

Good luck with your DIY system, love mine, I control it completely.

I know the answers to the why. lol

I'm outa here.😁
