Re-adding the ability for self-monitoring customers to cancel alarms from the app.

Per the recent feature deprecation, if a person with a self-monitoring plan (even though I pay for camera recording) doesn't pay for a monitoring plan that person can't cancel an alarm (even a false alarm) from the app anymore. The alarm will continue to sound until you physically go onsite to cancel it. This is a critical feature and without it this system is useless to me and a nuisance to my neighborhood.

@AntonioC we have not made any changes that would prevent users from a self-monitoring plan from canceling alarms via the SimpliSafe mobile app. If you are notified that an alarm was triggered, you can open the SimpliSafe app and tap the Off circle on the overview page, which will then turn off the alarm.

The only exception is in the event where a Smoke Detector or Carbon Monoxide Detector triggers an alarm - in that situation, the only way to stop the alarm event is by using the Keypad. This is an intentional design for fire safety, in accordance with the UL-985 standard.

I would love to know that that was true, however every time I trigger a false alarm via entry sensor or motion sensor the app on both my iPhone and iPad both show that I can’t cancel the alarm. I was on the phone with support yesterday who confirmed this app change as well because I have a self monitoring plan. I am running the latest version of the app, even uninstalled and reinstalled it on both devices yesterday with no change In behavior.

Can you confirm that information you mentioned, or help me understand if this is a bug?

Notes that the support rep was also unaware of this change until I asked them to look into it.

@AntonioC I'm afraid that the agent you spoke to gave incorrect information. We did not make a change to prevent those subscribed to a self-monitoring plan from turning off alarms on their mobile devices.

When you try to turn an alarm off, does the Overview screen in the mobile app say "everything is okay"? If so, you are experiencing a very rare bug that our devs are working on resolving ASAP.
