Rate of Rise/Heat Sensor

I wish Simplisafe sold a Rate of Rise/ Heat (High Temp) sensor! In my old house my wired system had rate of rise/heat sensors installed in the attic above my central A/C units as well as in my garage. These would alert if there were a fire by either sensing a temp > 135F degrees or a rate of rising temperature > 15F/hour.

Simplisafe specifically advises against using their  smoke detectors in attics or garages, so it appears to me that they leave a large gap in fire protection without such an offering.

@clydewbennett Great idea on the rate of change angle!  First I have ever seen that posted in this or the older community and makes nothing but sense.  Hopefully, someone in prod dev sees this and it gets submitted on SimpleTracker for serious consideration!

I think dev would be pretty easy. Multiple well n own mfrs make it so they could license it, incorporate their comm technology, get it mfr’d in no time. And they have commercial applications (boiler rooms, electrical rooms, server rooms, etc.

And while we’re giving dev their design steps, make the triggering temp adjustable within the app. In my server room, I may want a max temp of 100F. but in my warehouse, I want to know max temp is> 125F. because I know my product deteriorates above 130F.

@clydewbennett The current temp sensor already allows you to set a low and high temp so that would be easy to carry over.  Again, your suggestion on the rate of the rise in temperature is the new capability and agree there would be a huge market for it.

Does anyone in new product development monitor these forums???

Unfortunately mostly in stealth mode but occasionally they will post at irregular and not too often intervals. Admins do moderate on weekdays during normal business hours and comment regularly that an idea will be submitted for review.  If you do see that kind of reply, you can check status on simple tracker in the community.
