Issue with Referreal Program

I referred my father to Simplisafe, but instead of using the link I sent him, he called in and ended up purchasing his system over the phone. 

I called support and Simplisafe offered me two free months service over the phone but said this doesn't qualify for the referral gift. They told me the only way to qualify would be to pack up his system and return it, and then reorder through my referral link. 

That is a huge hassle and feels like a waste of our time (and Simplisafe's money for shipping and new packaging). Has anyone had any luck with a similar issue? I've been a SimpliSafe user for 12 years and have owned the first and current generation systems. The new customer I referred is my dad (same last name, lives in the same town) and he just received his system this week, so I feel it's not a big stretch to believe that I referred him. I'm literally the one who is going to install his system... Am I wasting my time trying to pursue this?

@simpleMan We are sorry to hear about all of this trouble. We partner with a third party to conduct our referral program, and the gift cards are sent through them - so unfortunately our Support team cannot send a gift card out on their own.

 

To ensure that you get your gift card and your father gets his system discount, the referral link does need to be used.

@simplisafe_admin​ When my father ordered his system, he was on the phone with the salesperson for quite a while, and mentioned mulitple times that he was referred. Why wouldn't the SImplisafe salesperson direct him to use the referral link?
