Device settings and overview status doesn’t update

Hi,

Ever since the most recent 2 base station updates, my iOS app’s Device settings and overview status “pull down” hardly ever updates- even after it supposedly finishes ( takes an unusually long time now) it still displays the old status updated time.

We have a cat that’s prone to escape, and seeing if any door sensors are opened ( such as garage door) are vital to me, to be sure she doesn’t sneak out when I come home and open the door ( yeah, I know… but sometimes she sneaks into the garage through another door, when we move trash or recycling into the garage).

It randomly also says “ base station busy”, “ base station updated ( keypad shows it’s up to date”.

Anyone else experiencing this, and any workaround?

BTW, I’ve already:

- taken the base station down, complete to battery removal

- checked the app for updates

- verified good WiFi strength

- reviewed my professional firewall and network for issues or flow blocks, as well as my DNS provider flows.

Thanks!

@stevenhvogel Thank you for listing out the troubleshooting steps you have taken, as we would have recommended some of the things that you already tried!

As a first troubleshooting step, try deleting the SimpliSafe app from your phone and then download it again. But if the error persists, we would then want to investigate the Base Station's placement and the environment around it.

Is the Base Station close to other electronics that output a wireless signal - like a Wi-Fi router or television? If it is, try moving the Base Station so it is at least 5 feet away from the device. You should also make sure that the Base Station is in open air, as placing it in a cabinet or closet can impact its connection to other SimpliSafe devices (and the mobile app). For more details, see the Where Should I Place My Base Station article in the Help Center.

Hi,

I forgot to list it, but I’ve already deleted and reinstalled the iOS app.

The base station is sufficiently in open air, and in my opinion sufficiently distant from the electronics you’ve mentioned. It’s been in the same place for 7 months, but this behavior is recent. BTW I have a WiFi signal strength and interference testers, and the area that it’s in is fine.

The app continues to have notifications that the base station firmware updated ( I had another notification this morning)- but I doubt that it’s accurate.

Please let me know the current firmware version. The firmware I have is shown as 218.6.0. It’s my understanding that there’s a notice from SimpliSafe that 2.18 experienced issues for some customers, and is being investigated. While the issue that I saw was frequently disconnecting or dropping WiFi, I’m wondering if my issue might be part of the 2.18 update, as my behavior started about when it was released.

BTW, a question: Cellular showed disconnected on the keypad diagnostics. Should it be connected at all times?

Thanks!

Steve
