Monitoring in Mexico

Hello Davey, I have a question: If I have a SimpliSafe system with monitoring at my current home in the US and then move the system to Mexico with me, will my system still call the monitoring service from Mexico who will in turn call whatever number I have listed under my contact? Does the monitoring service have the capability to call a Mexican cell phone or does it have to be a US cell number?

Hi @dcoins ,

The way that the system works is that when there's an alarm, your Base Station sends a signal to our Monitoring Service. A human operator will then call you, and if you aren't able to respond, they will call the local authorities, based on the address that you provide in your Location Settings in the app/online account.

If you were to move, you should update the Location profile with the most current location (as this is not an automatic process).

However, we are not able to support or provide service outside of our two markets - the United States, and the United Kingdom. Our system won't allow you to change your address to one in Mexico; and even if we did, the Monitoring operator would not be able to call local authorities in Mexico.

Similarly, and to answer your main question, we cannot support calling phone numbers with area codes in Mexico.

@davey_d  Is this still true as of November 2023 , or can you now call Mexico and speak spanish to the local authorities ?

@renato_degasperis unfortunately no, we are still only able to support just our two markets - the US and the UK. Our Monitoring Operators also are able to offer support only in English.
