Smart Lock Firmware 1.2 (May 2020 Update)

Hi folks,

As you know, our engineering team is always working on improving the entire system. So we're happy to announce that a dedicated update, version 1.2 for the Smart Lock, is rolling out now. Here are the highlights:

  • Enhanced battery power management
  • Improvements to transmissions between Lock and Base Station
  • Performance and reliability improvements

We recommend this update for all users. Since the Smart Lock is a unique component, we do have a slightly different upgrade process for it. Here's how:

  1. Log into the SimpliSafe App
  2. On the Dashboard, you should see Update Available under your Smart Lock controls
  3. Tap the link to initiate the update process, and follow the on-screen instructions

Please note: You do need to be physically present with your Smart Lock, as the update is transmitted through Bluetooth. For best results, we strongly recommend that you keep your phone within a couple of feet of the Smart Lock. And please allow about 8-12 minutes for the update to complete!

Will this get rid of the "Warning.  Side door smart lock is not responding" messages that I get from time to time?  SS sent me a new base to try out but I am likely just going to return it.  When I agreed, I didn't know that I'd have to set up my whole system again.  I have somewhere around 30 sensors and I don't want to deal with that.

Hey usmaak, the SimpliSafe on the phone support can quickly add your current sensors to your replacement BS(Base Station). They just need to find the original order shipment for those sensors, then some copy and pasting.

I've more than doubled the number of sensors since I got my system.  I have bought the sensors from a variety of places.

This has not shown as available on my system. Is it rolling out slowly?

I can't get my lock to update past 1.1.1. It will not connect to my Pixel 2 XL or my wife's pixel XL.

Also, is there any plan to add presents detection using Bluetooth? It would be really cool if the lock could detect the presence of my phone and unlock automatically. Thanks!

I haven't been able to figure out what firmware is on my Smart Lock.I think it's 1.1.1. I checked the smartphone app, the web app and on a keypad. Where do I look?

I need the answer to this as well.  I haven't been able to find a way to determine which firmware my locks have.

any way to check which firmware my lock currently has?

This update has broken the Unlock capability as in "Unlock from Away".  That is the setting I have, but the lock does not unlock, nor attempt to do so.

Anyone else having issues getting this update to even install? I have 3 locks in my home and have yet to get past the connecting to lock prompt.

Will not update.
Been trying to install the 1.1.1 update for over a week, when the update starts the lights blink on the lock, but my phone just sits there saying it is connecting to the lock. I let it sit for over an hour one day before I gave up.

Same problem here.
The lights blink on the lock, the app says it's connecting to the lock, the app light keeps spinning - forever.
Please, Simplisafe, help.

For those having connection issues, I was able to get the update to install with cylcing one battery out of the lock for 10 secs and then retrying. This was successful with all 3 of my deadbolts.

I've tried that and the lock still won't connect for the update. I have no idea which software version I'm running because the app is still telling me I need to update to version 1.1.1.... ugh!

I've at least doubled the number of sensors since I bought my system and some of them are through Best Buy.  I've pretty much just accepted the occasional not responding announcement/battery removal as the price of using this system.  I need to send the other base station back to them.

I cannot get my phone to connect to my smart lock via Bluetooth it says connection failed every single time. The app shows my lock is due for an update.
