That is strange as you are supposed to as I do but I would try force stopping the app and clear cache and see if that helps and make sure app is up to date and also make sure you allow the app to have all notifications on.

@sh2402 As mentioned by Lance843, you should be receiving notifications when Wi-Fi is restored, so it could help to clear the app's cache from your phone and delete/reinstall the app on your phone.
When you say that Wi-Fi does not reconnect, is your Base Station not automatically reconnecting to your network when Wi-Fi is restored? If that is the case, I would recommend getting up a Guest 2.4GHz network and connect only your SimpliSafe devices to it.
