Outdoor temperature sensor

I like to get an outdoor temperature sensor to monitor outdoor temps with the SimpliSafe system.  The current temperature sensor is not "weather proof" and I don't want an alarm if the temperature drops below 41.

Hi folks,

We're an alarm company, so we're focused on components that warn you of dangers within your home. That's why we have the Temperature Sensor - so you you'll be alerted if it gets too hot or too cold in a specific room inside your home. @ktjensen is right, it's meant for indoor use only, and also will generate an audible alert and a call from Monitoring (if you're subscribed), but will not result in dispatch. But the alarm/warning piece is the intention for that component.

The lower end range is 0 which is well below 41. Also while the sensor isn't weather proof you can put it in or under something that is weatherproof and it'll work just fine in my experience.

I'd bet good money that the likelihood of them releasing a weatherproof temperature sensor is very low. I would definitely experiment with the current sensor rather than wait for a new one.

Just lowered my temp sensor to 0 fareignheit. Assume it will trigger an alarm when it gets that low outside. At that point may decide if I want to remove the sensor from the system. Personally want all temp sensor alarms ignored for five months.

The help CHAT folks mentioned it's an internal in house notification only. It will not prompt fire or police in any way.

So just remove them entirely from the system? What changes in 5 months where you'll want those notifications?

It would be great to have an outdoor or weatherproof temp sensor for things like my greenhouse or storage shed where I could be notified if the temperatures got to low or too high.

I have 3 temp sensors installed outside and in my greenhouses to let me know when temperatures get below freezing.  It's a great concept except for SimpliSafe does not pause the alerts once the freezing temperature reaches the specific alert temperature... the system will re alarm every hour as long as the temperature is under the specified point.  Totally useless it'll keep you up all night repeating the alarm every hour.   They don't even wait for a change in temp. I'm very disappointed with this design glitch.
