Smoke Detector

How does one remove a SS Smoke Detector?  Have to remove for battery replacement. I tried to twist it counter clockwise but it didn't want to twist. I didn't want to force it lest it was the wrong way to remove it.

Hi @shirleylox,

You have it right! You probably just need to twist it a bit harder. If you'd like, you can click here to view our video on the topic in our Help Center.

Thank you. Late here now so will try that soon (busy tomorrow).  I didn't want to break anything by forcing.

Gave it a sharp ccw twist and it did come off.
I must get rid of that fear of breaking plastic.

Smoke sensor sounded off again.  we have noticed a pattern. This occurs after we have been away and have returned.  the first  time the detector sounded it did this several times.  Simplisafe replaced the detector.  approximately 9 months later the same problem.  A fiew hours after returning, the alarm sounds.  Perhaps dust gets stirred up?  (Its spring and the air is full of pollen.)

Is there anyway to adjust the sensitivity?  We have one SS smoke detector.  the rest are non reporting types.  No problems with them.  I call SS customer service and we reset the base station and they have ordered a replacement.

I'm worried about a false alarm when we are away  (a $125 fee plus the stress of getting a false alarm on my phone)

Perhaps SimpliSafe should get IDEO to design the next gen. smoke detector.

@jrsinc I would suggest moving the smoke detector to another location, if possible.  If it is indeed dust or pollen getting unsettled after a long trip, I wouldn't worry so much about it going off while away unless you have a housekeeper/checker (or pets) who might enter/disturb the settled dust while you're away.
