Are you seeing a constant yellow light? If so, that's the indicator that your Smoke Detector's tamper switch isn't being held down by the mounting bracket. You'll just want to twist all the way clockwise until the unit gently snaps into place, and the light should disappear. The chirping should stop as well!
My SS smoke alarm started chirping a month ago so I replaced the battery and it was ok for 3 weeks and again starting chirping and I cannot get it to stop despite putting it on correctly.
@jonvanzile Do you see a yellow light on your Smoke Detector? If you do that means that its Tamper Switch isn't held down all the way. Twisting the Smoke Detector all the way so it snaps into place can help resolve this.
However, if the Smoke Detector is properly in place and it's still chirping and has a yellow light, the mounting bracket may be screwed into your wall or ceiling, causing it to warp. If this is the case, I would recommend unmounting the Smoke Detector and slightly loosening its screws. Then, try mounting the Smoke Detector again.
This was the best most complete advice. I had the chirping, replaced the battery, still had the chirping, twisted the detector to seat it better, still chirping, I loosened the screws just a pinch. No more chirping!
