Smart lock pin pad randomly won’t work

For the last few months I’ve been having an issue where my smart lock will not automatically unlock if I press “off” on my alarm fob. So then I get up to the door and have to enter my pin, and it won’t unlock either. I have to keep a spare key in my shed just to be able to get into my house when this happens. It maybe happens once a month, and the rest of the time works flawlessly. And yes, the batteries have been replaced. I use solely the lock pin pad for when others come to take out my dogs, and it’s frustrating to not be able to rely on it….my mom was locked out of my house and I had to tell her where to find the spare key. Is there a fix for this?? It’s super unreliable and problematic.

Hello @Cehill16,

There's a few different ways we can troubleshoot this. First, I would recommend unpairing and resyncing the PIN Pad to your Smart Lock. To unpair the PIN Pad:

  1. Press Menu on the Keypad
  2. Select Devices > Lock > PIN Pad > Remove
  3. When asked "are you sure you want to remove this PIN Pad from your Smart Lock, select "Yes"

Then, to resync the PIN Pad to your Smart Lock:

  1. Put the Smart Lock in pairing mode by pressing the Lock’s pairing/test button, located underneath its battery plate
  2. When the Smart Lock is in pairing mode, hold down PIN Pad’s “lock” button for 5 seconds
  3. The Base Station will confirm the PIN Pad has synced with voice prompt, “PIN Pad added”
  4. Try locking/unlocking using PIN Pad

If unpairing/resyncing the PIN Pad doesn't help it consistently unlock, I try moving the PIN Pad a little closer to your Smart Lock and change the surface it is placed on.

@emily_s thank you, I will try resyncing. And what do you mean by change the surface the pinpad is placed on? It’s on the door itself…I’m not sure where else it would go.

@Cehill16 If there is any space on the outside of your house next to your door, it can be placed on that surface as well.
